湯河原の隠れ宿で贅沢な一泊|絶景スイート&懐石料理【阿しか里|歴史とパワースポットを巡る大人旅】Yugawara Onsen Kaiseki Ryoan Ashikari

1.5 hours by car from central Tokyo A place where you can feel history and nature And A luxurious trip Yugawara Onsen Kaiseki Ryoan Ashikari Hello, this is Ryo. This time, we will introduce you to Yugawara Onsen, a famous hot spring in Kanagawa Prefecture, which is about an hour and a half by car from the city center and perfect for a weekend drive. This hot spring area, which spreads out at the foot of the Hakone outer rim, is a famous hot spring that is mentioned in the Manyoshu, and its charm lies in its tranquil environment surrounded by nature. There are many attractive sights in the area,
such as the mysterious Shishido Cave where Minamoto no Yoritomo hid, and the scenic Mitsuishi rocks at Manazuru Cape, making it a great tourist destination to enjoy along with a drive. This time, we stayed in a suite at Kaiseki Ryokan Ashikari, which is one of the most recommended hotels in Yugawara Onsen, so we will introduce the spectacular view from the open-air bath in the guest room and the luxurious kaiseki cuisine that will satisfy your soul. So let’s get started. To access the site, From the Atsugi Interchange on the Odawara Atsugi Road, head south on National Route 135 via Odawara and you will arrive in about an hour. Great day for a drive! And, along this magnificent coastline, there is a soba restaurant that many celebrities visit, so this trip will start with lunch. we have arrived. We would like to introduce “Soba Kiyose Kisaku”. It has a fantastic location overlooking Sagami Bay, and is a popular restaurant that is often featured on television. Handsome actor Takumi Saito,
Apparently Sashihara-san was there for a TV program. Of course, Gal Sone is also there. This seems promising And what’s more… In the best weather, we were shown to a terrace seat. Kisaku offers the most popular duck soba, sashimi from Sagami Bay,
and warabimochi in a variety of flavors, making it a stylish restaurant where you can enjoy not only elegant cuisine but also sweet treats. I ordered the Odawara bowl topped with soba noodles and Ashigara beef steak. My wife ordered the Soba Sanmai set, which includes soba noodles served with grated yam, sesame sauce, and grated daikon radish. The fragrant handmade soba noodles, the hearty steak bowl, and the soft and sweet warabi mochi were all delicious. Wow, what a great view and lunch! The soba noodles are also authentic, so I think it’s worth coming just for lunch. Cape Manazuru comes into view in front of us. We plan to stop by Cape Manazuru the next day, so we’ll introduce it at the end of the video. Yes, and then we entered Yugawara Town. It takes about 20 minutes by car from Kisaku to Yugawara. Since there is still time before check-in, let’s take a stroll to a place that was the stage for a certain history. Just before Oku-Yugawara, go along the Tsubaki Line mountain pass that leads to Hakone, and after about 15 minutes, you will come to a parking space called Tsubakidai. Up ahead is Shishidono Cave, a place associated with Minamoto no Yoritomo. Tunnel? After passing through the tunnel, we came to a place where many stone monuments were erected. And it seems there is the shishidono cave up ahead, but there is no one there except for us, so I’m scared that I might time travel. My wife doesn’t care about that and just keeps going. It seems that we have to go down a slope lined
with stone lanterns and Jizo statues for about 400 meters. The trip there is fine, but the trip back is going to be extremely tough. Shishidono Cave is said to be the cave where Minamoto no Yoritomo hid after losing the Battle of Ishibashiyama. In the historical drama “The 13 Lords of the Kamakura” this is depicted as the place where Kajiwara Kagetoki, played by Nakamura Shido, deliberately let Minamoto no Yoritomo, played by Oizumi Yo, escape. Yes, and finally we arrived at the Shishidono Cave. This place, tucked away in the steep mountains, Even today, traces of those times remain quietly. In addition to here in Yugawara, there is also another Shishidono Cave in Manazuru, and it is not certain where Yoritomo hid himself. Since he escaped to Awa from Cape Manazuru after his defeat in the mountains of Hakone, either possibility is possible, and has excited the imagination of historians. When I thought that Yoritomo had been here, an indescribable emotion welled up inside me. I returned from this trip with the following knowledge: This place seems to be a famous haunted spot in Kanagawa. However, this is the place where Yoritomo was defended. The 400-metre long stone monument path tells us that this place has been carefully preserved for hundreds of years. Maybe it’s a place where you can receive some special powers. Ok, now it’s 3pm so let’s head to the inn where we’ll be staying tonight. The inn we stayed at this time is located on a hill in Yugawara Town, so we were able to enjoy not only the hot springs but also the magnificent scenery. The landlady and many other staff members welcomed us,
and it was clear that this was a prestigious inn. Outside the shiny windows you can see a colorful garden with fresh greenery, and when you check in you feel as if you are in a forest. Kaiseki Ryokan Ashikari is a long-established inn that was founded over 80 years ago. The building, based on the Sukiya-style architecture, is cleverly placed on a hilly area of approximately 9,000m2, and all 17 guest rooms have different gardens and beautiful views of Yugawara. The interior of the building was renovated from 2020 to 2023. In order to create a sense of unity with nature, the openings were made as large as possible, and the design has a Japanese feel. Now let’s head to the room. The room we will be staying in this time is a top-class room with a spectacular open-air bath, located at the end of the charming building. A spacious space with as few walls as possible The floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows offer a view of vibrant greenery, creating a beauty that is as if it had been cut out of a painting.
It feels as if all five senses are enveloped in fresh greenery. In addition, the exposed beams on the ceiling create an open and tasteful space. This room, called Sagamiji, is a suite that was created by combining two separate rooms, and offers uncompromising luxury. It was a moment like being a lord in a castle tower. Now let’s take a closer look at the room. On the table are mandarin orange monaka and nuts, as well as original Japanese sweets as a reservation bonus. And the pantry here is well stocked. A capsule coffee maker and stylish tea, The refrigerator is stocked with beer, oolong tea, and original mandarin jelly. On this tablet, you can check information about the building, souvenirs, and nearby tourist spots. In addition, there are charging cables, nail clippers, and two extension cords, so you’re in for a treat. Let’s go to the bedroom. A huge sofa that can seat about six people on a shiny wooden floor. Massage chairs are also available. There are two spacious semi-double beds in a relaxing space. The layout offers a panoramic view of the vast open space and fresh greenery in front of you. Next, I’d like to introduce the sanitary facilities and the open-air bath. First, the toilet. The powder room is spacious and has a separate washroom. The restroom is a very bright space with light coming in from both sides. The spacious counter is equipped with two sinks, luxury Mikimoto cosmetics, and two face masks. And at the back there is a shower room where you can take a nice, bright shower. Sorry for the long wait. Now, let me introduce you to Ashikari’s proud open-air bath. This open-air bath, located on a spacious terrace,
boasts a great view. Below you can see the cityscape of Yugawara. Beyond that lies the beautiful ridgeline that stretches from Hakone to Jikkoku Pass. A luxurious time, as if you had this magnificent view all to yourself. Your mind and body will slowly relax. A wonderful hot spring that combines nature, history, and healing. After enjoying a drink and a bite of ice cream, it’s time for dinner. Dinner will be served in a stylish restaurant with a wine cellar. We were given a lovely seat with a view of the garden through a large window. I would like to toast with Dom Perignon, but I have already received a complimentary drink from Ikkyu-san, so I will refrain from doing so. First, the appetizer. An elaborate dish of chicken breast, squid and red sorrel on top of Yoro shinjo. It’s lively. Next up is a dish using seasonal ingredients. Sorry, I forgot to ask what kind of fish it was. There was food hidden under the sushi. Next is the soup. And bite-sized rice. A luxurious dish that combines rockfish and sea urchin. And then the sashimi arrived Fresh sashimi goes well with fresh wasabi. Next is the hotpot. The ingredients in this luxurious hotpot are abalone and scallops. The ultimate luxury. The timing of the food being served is perfect. This is an egg that has been rubbed with burdock root and wrapped around a sea bass. It’s a lot of work. This thick piece of duck meat is juicy and chewy. And the main dish is Kagoshima beef fillet steak. As expected of a first-class inn, it did not disappoint my expectations. The day we stayed there, the Firefly Festival was being held, and they offered to take us to the festival site. We came there for a walk after dinner. It’s a really nice park. The lights are gradually going out and it looks like we can see fireflies up ahead. The sight of the gentle dancing lights made me feel nostalgic, like I was a child again. It’s beautiful weather. That’s right, let’s go to Manyo Park! There’s a tunnel. Literary Path. Let’s go in for a bit. How wonderful! A dynamic river and a spectacular waterfall. This is definitely literary. Manyo Park was opened after the Russo-Japanese War as a sanatorium for war-wounded soldiers, utilizing its hot springs. It is said that Heihachiro Togo, hero of the Battle of Tsushima, also recuperated here. The approximately 20,000m2 park includes a shrine, hot spring facilities, a cafe, and more, making it a place of relaxation where you can fully enjoy nature on the small hill with a clear stream running through it. It is also a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves, and is lit up during the Momiji Festival. This is where I saw the fireflies yesterday. It’s a nice atmosphere. I don’t have much time to show you everything, but there is also a foot bath area and a cafe with an authentic teahouse, making the whole park a huge theme park related to hot springs and literature.
Well, even so, there were hardly any people there in the early morning, so I was able to enjoy a pleasant walk in the park that was all to myself. Now let’s take a morning bath and go to breakfast. Breakfast will be Japanese food. Kanagawa’s original citrus Shonan Gold yogurt and salad You can choose from grilled fish such as Saikyo-yaki, Ebo-tai, and horse mackerel. For the lovely salmon, Elegantly presented dishes such as kamaboko and tsukudani This is a furikake of seafood such as shrimp and seaweed. We also had clam miso soup and Nagoya Cochin eggs for TKG. An elegant breakfast with each dish carefully prepared. This time too, I ate it all up deliciously. When I returned to my room, a lovely guest had arrived. The cats of Yugawara seem somehow elegant. Although I was very sad to leave, I took a break on the pleasant terrace before checking out. This time we introduced Kaiseki Ryokan Ashikari, a long-established inn in Yugawara Onsen that can be easily reached by car from the city center. What did you think? The high-quality hospitality and attentive service worthy of a first-class, long-established inn gently enveloped our stay, providing a moment of healing right down to the soul. The gorgeous suite room, which comes with a spectacular open-air bath, is a truly extraordinary space. We highly recommend this inn to anyone looking for a luxurious, high-quality experience where you can enjoy seasonal kaiseki cuisine and famous hot springs while surrounded by beautiful nature. Finally, let’s conclude this video by introducing some more of the charms of Yugawara, surrounded by mountains and the sea.
