Tokyo Cafe Hopping – Exploring Cafés and Landmarks on a Relaxing City Walk

Today, I’m sharing from my home, Tokyo. As I stroll around the city I’ll show you some of the cafes and breakfast spots I visited! Hope it’s helpful for anyone visiting from overseas or other parts of Japan. Let’s start in Omotesando, where walking the little alleys is part of the fun. This is a cafe by flower artist Nicolai Bergmann, attached to his gorgeous flower shop. A bright interior with high ceilings and large glass windows Their banana cake was light and not too sweet. Pretty pink flowers on every table. It was such a calm, special moment. From Omotesando, I walked up to Meiji Shrine. The greenery in this season is just beautiful. It’s a big place, and after walking around, I was ready to eat 🙂 Next, I headed to a spot nearby. Made it to Sembikiya on Omotesando! Senbikiya is famous for their fruit, but… This location also has a Western-style restaurant. The salads and fruits are very fresh. Japanese-style Western food is seriously next level. I wish more people knew that! Sembikiya’s Western food is even more delicious than expected! The orange peel aroma in this doria dish was amazing. Honestly, the best doria I’ve ever had. I would have preferred the fruit sandwich with a little more cream. Japanese cakes are not only delicious but also beautiful Let’s peek around Takeshita Street, just behind us. Takeshita Street is now super popular with tourists too. You can’t talk about Harajuku without mentioning crepes! Next up: Shimbashi, the town of salarymen With great transport and tons of restaurants, it’s convenient for tourists too. Perfect for jet-lagged early birds—this café opens at 7 AM. It’s a chain, so you’ll spot them around town. Morning sets come with thick toast when you order coffee. You can choose a topping: sweet red bean paste, egg salad, or a boiled egg. This is from the a la carte menu You can purchase Komeda’s special bean paste, coffee beans, and more. It gets really busy during rush hour—Shimbashi is a business district after all. But Hibiya Park is just around the corner for a peaceful break. A lovely spot to relax and enjoy the quiet. Next, we head to Ginza 8-chome, which is close to Shinbashi. Came just before lunch on a weekday, so it was nice and quiet. This cafe has been around for over 100 years. That photo behind me is from when John Lennon and Yoko Ono visited in 1978. Their coffee has such a deep, rich flavor—so good. Japanese sandwiches are all about perfect balance. Fresh ingredients, every time. I wanted to try their cake too, but I was too full… So I grabbed their brandy pound cake to go instead. Now I wish I’d bought some coffee too… Next stop: Nihonbashi Muromachi, close to Ginza. A cozy shop inside COREDO Muromachi. I went for the matcha syrup. It’s pretty small shop, so I’d recommend going solo or as a pair. Now diving into something a little deeper… To a coffee shop that opens at 8am Located in the nostalgic Shimbashi Station Building. I’ve been here at night for drinks before, but… I heard the retro morning cafés were great too—had to check it out. It has that nostalgic Showa-era vibe. Boiled egg with toast—a very Japanese breakfast. Thick toast soaked in butter… just delicious. Bread in Japan is so good. Don’t you think so? I’d love to come back and try the lunch menu sometime. Just outside, the city’s morning hustle is already in full swing. Next, let’s head to Hibiya and the Imperial Palace. Japanese streets are so quiet—you hardly hear car horns. Let’s take a walk around the Imperial Palace! The palace grounds are wide open, with little shade. Don’t forget to stay hydrated on hot days! Time for a break at this Starbucks. It’s a Japan-only menu item, and it’s delicious! This was their store-limited Wasanbon Almond Milk Latte. Loving this mini Trader Joe’s tote—so useful! From the calm of the palace back into the heart of the city. How did you like Tokyo’s cafes and views? Hope this gave you some inspiration for your time in Tokyo! Thanks so much for watching. Next video will be all about Tokyo eats! Matcha latte from Tully’s—surprisingly good. The final boss is Family Mart’s fruit sandwich, an absolute winner!

Welcome to Tokyo Cafe Hopping — a gentle journey through Tokyo’s café culture, filmed over a few peaceful days.
From cozy retro cafe in Shimbashi(新橋) to elegant coffee shop in Ginza(銀座), stylish cafés in Omotesando(表参道), and classic favorites like Sembikiya and Starbucks but with only Japan menu, this video blends breakfast, coffee, and everyday Tokyo charm.

If you’re visiting from overseas and find yourself up early thanks to jet lag, don’t worry — I’ve included Komeda Coffee in Shinbashi, a beloved Japanese chain that opens as early as 7am. It’s a great spot for a quiet start to the day, and they’re known for their thick toast and creamy egg sandwiches.

Along the way, we’ll also stop by iconic landmarks like Meiji Shrine and the Imperial Palace — perfect for a walk between cafés.

Whether you’re planning a Tokyo trip or just love relaxing café scenes, I hope this video gives you inspiration and a little escape ☕🍳🌿
