下谷神社大祭
「下町で一番早い夏祭り」と言われ、千年以上の歴史をもつ東上野の下谷神社大祭が今年も斎行されます。奈良時代に創建され、都内で最も古い「お稲荷様」として、祭神名・大年神 (オオトシノカミ) は天照皇大神(アマテラスオオミカミ) の御弟、素戔雄尊 (スサノオノミコト) の御子で五穀を主宰し、厚く産業を守護し商売繁盛と家内安全の御利益がある神様と言われています。
Shitaya Shrine Festival
The Shitaya Shrine Festival in Higashi-Ueno, known as the “earliest summer festival in the downtown area” and with over 1,000 years of history, will be held again this year. Founded in the Nara period, it is the oldest “Oinari-sama” shrine in Tokyo, and the enshrined deity, Ootoshi-no-kami, is the younger brother of Amaterasu Omikami and the son of Susanoo-no-mikoto, who is said to be the god who presides over the five grains, protects industry, and bestows blessings on business prosperity and household safety.
