Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei is the mother mountain of Japanese Buddhism that has produced many famous monks. A sacred place in the sky where time flows eternally. The East Pagoda area is the center of Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei, and important buildings and towers are gathered there, including the main temple’s Konponchudo Hall, the Great Lecture Hall, and the East Pagoda of Hokke Soji-in Temple. “Light up one corner” is a phrase by Dengyo Daishi Saicho, who founded the Tendai sect’s Enryakuji Temple, and it means that “if each person becomes a light in the place where they are and illuminates their surroundings, these will accumulate and the whole world will be illuminated and shine.”

比叡山延暦寺は、多くの名僧を生んだ日本仏教の母山、悠久の時が流れる天空の聖地です。
「一隅を照らす」天台宗延暦寺をお開きになった伝教大師最澄さまのお言葉で、「一人ひとりが自分のいる場所で、自ら光となって周りを照らせば、それが積み重なってこの世全体が照らされ、光輝く」という意味です。
