Good morning, August 20th, 8am, here is a town called Oujda, Morocco. I checked into the hotel at 1pm yesterday and slept all day, without having dinner. But I still have no appetite. I’m not feeling well . I feel like I have heatstroke. I had severe headaches, dizziness, nausea, and those symptoms yesterday, but now I’m feeling much better. However, I decided to extend my stay by one more night just to be sure. I think I’ll probably feel better by the evening and be able to go to the town to eat something. By the way, my portable fan is very useful. I recommend it. So let’s have fun today too. Hello everyone, this is Asahi. It’s been two weeks since I entered Morocco. I’m currently in Oujda, in the northeast of Morocco. I ate a lot of delicious things here, so I’d like to introduce them to you along with the cityscape. Are you from China? – Japan. Welcome to Morocco. 10 dirhams ($1/150 yen). Thank you. Good morning. The date has changed. I’m staying at a hotel for three nights. I’m feeling really good now. One chocolate ross costs 3 dirhams ($0.3/45 yen). Orange juice is really good after all. Moroccan oranges are really good. I happened to talk to this guy in the white T-shirt. I decided to explore the Medina with Mohammed. Medina is an old town and also a market called a souk. Arab souks are really fun. There are so many things for sale that it’s eye-catching. Oujda has a population of about 500,000. It is the largest town in eastern Morocco. It is a place with the Sahara Desert to the south and the Mediterranean Sea to the north, where nomads, Arabs, and Amazigh people come and go. Oujda’s food culture is one of the attractions that can’t be found anywhere else in Morocco. Despite that, there are few tourists in the town, and the natural and friendly atmosphere of the local people was also impressive. What is this? Same as fruit. Cherry. Something like a cherry. But it’s more vegetable-like. This is a fruit called jujube in Japanese, and it tastes like a green cherry. It’s a different food from a date palm. Date palms are called jujube in Japanese because they look similar to dates. After seeing the souk, I came to a cafe. The Arabic crossword puzzle looks really difficult. I said goodbye to Mohammed here. He was a kind and nice person who showed me around the souk and bought me tea. Then I walked around the city again in search of dinner. Oujda is famous for its hearty meat dishes. I wanted to try the dish where goat meat is slowly roasted in an extra-large charcoal pot. However, this is all pre-ordered, and I couldn’t find a single serving here. So I tried another Oujda specialty, a blood sausage called Boudin. This huge sausage is a specialty of Oujda, called Boudin. I’m leaving tomorrow, so I’ll eat this today. I wasn’t able to take a video of it being made, but this is a Boudin sandwich. Boudin was baked with the skin removed and the insides taken out. This cost 10 dirhams ($1/150 yen). It was very fragrant. It had a strong smell. It was delicious. Boudin is a blood sausage made mainly from beef liver and heart, mixed with spices, flour and beef blood. It has a spicy and unique smell that is addictive. What’s interesting is that eating beef blood is originally forbidden in Islam. However, it has been passed down as a traditional food in eastern Morocco, especially in areas where the Amazigh people are strongly influenced. Mmm, it’s delicious. Let’s eat one more. Then, just as I was thinking of eating another Boudina at another stall, I saw that it was a sheep? It’s a sheep’s head. Thank you. It’s super delicious. How much is it? The sandwich is 10 or 15 dirhams. 15 dirhams ($1.5/225 yen). Takeaway? Yes. It’s a sheep’s head. I’ve already eaten about half of the second sandwich. Smoked sheep’s head meat sandwich. The animal smell of the sheep adds a nice accent to the flavor. It’s elastic like beef innards, just the right amount of fat, and incredibly delicious. Boudin is delicious enough to eat every day, and this is like a rich pork bone ramen that I crave once a week. That’s it. Welcome to Morocco. -Thank you. I don’t know the name of this, but it was super delicious, so it was dinner in Oujda. This is the end of this video. It was Oujda, the largest town in eastern Morocco. Next time, we’ll finally be in the Sahara Desert. Then we’ll enter the Atlas Mountains, and then the Sahara Desert again, and we’ll travel through Morocco. Please subscribe, like, and comment. See you in the next video. Goodbye.
