[北海道]湖光與火山之間:洞爺湖、大沼、昭和新山|Tour with NicoleXs

Last episode felt the sea breeze of Hakodate The journey continues north Leaving Yunokawa behind Today the view is filled with landscapes Onuma means great lake in Ainu The Ainu are the Indigenous people of Hokkaido Their language is closely connected with nature Around 80% of Hokkaido’s place names come from Ainu For example Sapporo means The river referring to the Toyohira River This is one of Japan’s New Three Scenic Views New isn’t really that new It was chosen during the Showa era Last year I went to Matsushima One of the original Three Views The difference between old and new is just the timing of being seen It’s not absolute but a matter of perspective Just like many things in life There’s no one right answer So maybe not everything needs to be taken so seriously, right? Spring at the lake still carries a hint of winter The air feels light The light seems freshly awakened Lake Toya comes into view During the Showa era This young volcano rose from an earthquake It still exhales warm air Standing in front of it I feel it is alive Breathing gently At the base is a bear ranch Visitors can buy tickets to see brown bears But I prefer not to support animal tourism like this So this was skipped But the ranch is known for horse oil products But I did buy a jar of horse oil A small souvenir from this place A ropeway nearby leads up to the top of Mount Usu From above Lake Toya stretches wide in every direction It was my first time at Lake Toya And I fell in love with it instantly Its name comes from Ainu It truly feels like a place to dock and stay Ever had that feeling of being somewhere unfamiliar and yet it feels peaceful and familiar That’s how I felt here From late April to October Fireworks light up the lake for half a year 20 minutes each night A gentle kind of everyday romance The lakefront is lined with hotels facing the water A quiet decision formed in that moment I’ve already decided to return soon Even for just one night Calm streets surround the lake Small quiet shops The scent of coffee in the air Eventually I had to say goodbye A line comes to mind from Matsuura Yataro
