Time to step out of the ordinary. How are you? I’m mamirock. This time, it’s a glamping trip without a car. One person missed the bus and will join us at the destination. As soon as we arrived, we saw Mt. Fuji! The swan boats at Lake Yamanakako have chicks on board. There were real swans! Swans are migratory birds that typically arrive in winter. However, around May, you can encounter swans raising their young at Lake Yamanakako. When I tried to get closer to take a photo, I was mistaken for a threat. Parent swans are fiercely protective during this time. We are waiting for my friend at a café. The bus was full, so She is coming by taxi. I’m curious about the BIG Fuji Mountain Cream Soda. Now that we’re all here, it’s time to enjoy! I opted for the regular-sized cream soda instead of the BIG one. Its vibrant blue color really captures the festive atmosphere. The taxi fare from Gotemba was ¥6,000! We’re heading to a supermarket just a 5-minute walk away. Drawn by a large tree, I decided to pass through a shrine. One of the perks of walking travel is the freedom to make spontaneous detours. The Sengen Shrine enshrines Mt. Fuji as its deity. There are several Sengen Shrines around Mt. Fuji. With many devotees, there are numerous guardian lion-dogs. Across the bridge lies the Yamanaka Suwa Shrine. It feels like I’ve wandered into a Ghibli-esque path.” Every time we see Mt. Fuji, we are moved. We discovered a Swedish torch. It’s larger than we expected, so we’re debating whether to purchase it. For now, let’s buy ingredients for the BBQ. We absolutely want corn. We love seafood. We’re not too fond of fatty meats. Small-sized seasonings are really helpful. The neighboring building offers camping gear for rent. They had a wider variety of fireworks than the supermarket. We stopped by a brewery we noticed on our way here. It’s said to be the craft beer brewery closest to Mt. Fuji. It was so stylish that it made us a bit nervous. After some recommendations, we purchased three different beers. Check-in is automated and can be done without staff assistance. Here’s the view from today’s accommodation. It’s a spacious room with high ceilings. I was excited about my first glamping experience. We still have our own private space. The BBQ area and terrace are exclusively for us. We might have bought too much. Cheers to the idea of car-free glamping! As beginners, we didn’t know how to use the BBQ grill. It was a struggle to figure out how to turn up the heat. I want to say ‘wonderful’ out loud every time. The more we see Mt. Fuji, the more it captivates us. Our hearts are full, but our stomachs are still empty, so let’s resume the BBQ we started earlier. In the end, we consumed about 90% of our ingredients. Oh, and we also bought a Swedish torch. It’s a vertical log stove that allows for both a campfire and cooking. There’s a lot of smoke coming out, is it okay? We didn’t know how to use the telescope, but even with our eyes, the stars were incredibly beautiful. After the smoke cleared, the fire started burning vigorously. We may be from different generations, but we’re colleagues and friends. You can make friends to play with even as an adult. love the sound of fireworks. There were magic glasses. Can you see Doraemon? I hope the magic reaches us. Next, we’ll enjoy hand-crafted sparklers made by artisans. They change four times and are beautiful. The campfire is like a time machine, taking us back and forth in time. The campfire truly is the essence of camping. Let’s drift off to sleep now. I lost the shower battle. Today’s Mt. Fuji is completely hidden behind clouds. Morning coffee is essential to wake up. Yamanashi is famous for hoto noodles. This restaurant offers a variety of hoto dishes. The star of hoto might be the pumpkin. I love hoto because it’s warm and has a gentle taste. Oshino Hakkai has eight ponds made from spring water that comes from Mt. Fuji. It’s super popular with tourists. The snowmelt from Mt. Fuji filters through lava rock for decades, making the water super clear. The ponds are so clear they look like mirrors. They’re spread out over a wide area. Mt. Fuji is hiding behind those clouds. This pond is said to be where the water gods live. You can even see the ducks’ feet through the water. There are lots of street foods to try. Dango is popular at every tourist spot. We decided to have handmade kusa-mochi. Tourist spots have already gone global. The taste of the grass is really strong. We’ve come to the café inside the inn. The terrace seating looks nice too. They roast their own coffee beans here. The cookies are simple but made with good ingredients. Even though we’ve retired, our family used to run a bakery. These cookies remind me of the ones we used to make. Before we knew it, we were talking about Japanese dramas. All three of us love them. We got into a lively conversation about how the food in good dramas always looks so delicious. It’s almost time to head back. I hope we can enjoy our daily lives starting tomorrow. I wonder where we should go next.

車がなくても、キャンプ道具がなくてもグランピングはできる。
ほうとうや忍野八海、白鳥や湖の畔のカフェや森の中のカフェも。
東京からはバス旅、現地では徒歩と時々タクシーで思いきり楽しめました。

グランピングとは「Glamorous(魅惑的)」と「Camping(キャンプ)」を組み合わせた造語だって知ってました? 私は初めて知りました。
「自然は感じたいけど水回りはきれいなほうがいいな」という希望が叶う素敵な体験でした。
