Saudi Arabia's Desert Rock Resort, Ultra-Luxury Mountain Hideaway (4K Hotel Tour & Vlog)

Saudi Arabia’s Desert Rock Resort, Ultra-Luxury Mountain Hideaway (4K Hotel Tour & Vlog)

The resort is located inland in the Red Sea region of northwest Saudi Arabia. The resort can be reached by car in 30 minutes from Red Sea International Airport. The resort is located in the Hejaz Mountains in Saudi Arabia. Passing through this gate, we will enter the resort grounds. The transfer from the airport to the resort costs 460 SAR (122.6 USD) one way. We will get off the car at this point. Around 3:30 pm. What a cool car (Mercedes Benz electric car?). I’m excited to see what’s going to happen next. We go through a narrow path between the rocks. Next, we come across a staircase, and beyond that… The resort staff is waiting and will serve me a wet towel. This is the arrival pavilion. The word “Desert Rock” (the name of this resort) in Arabic and English. I have a welcome drink. It was a sweet and spicy drink. The staff will explain the resort to me. From here, we board a buggy and go through Hidden Valley. We go to the main building where the lobby and restaurant are located. As we head to the lobby, I will explain the resort. This resort opened on December 15, 2024. This resort was built as part of Saudi Arabia’s economic reform initiative “Vision 2030”. We arrive at the main building. This is the lobby area. It is operated by Saudi Arabian company Red Sea Global (RSG). Red Sea Global (RSG) is a company led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Check-in. The price is 9,660 SAR (2,575 USD) per night including tax. Even the cheapest room costs 8,000 SAR (2,130 USD) per night, so it can be said to be an ultra-luxury resort. We will see the facilities in the main building at night and the next morning. There is a tent over there, where cultural experience events are held. The yellow-brown mountain massif is impressive. There is a suspension bridge over there. And there is an observation deck, which is the highest point of the resort. We move to the villa where I will stay tonight. There is a gym and a kids club around here, which we will see at night. There is a signature restaurant and bar over there. The resort is large, covering more than 30,000 square meters. The basic way to move around the resort is by buggy. The villa where we will stay is in an area called SABAH, located in the southwest part of the resort. The resort is mainly divided into four zones. We will climb the slope in a buggy. The resort was designed by Miami-based Oppenheim Architecture. It is a wonderful resort where nature and architecture are well integrated. After about 5 minutes by buggy, we will arrive at the SABAH area. The villa where I will stay tonight is SABAH 302. I arrived around 4 pm. The resort has 54 villas and 10 cave suites. The villa category is “One Bedroom Cliff Hanging Villa.” As the name suggests, this villa is built on a cliff. From here, the cliff doesn’t look that steep, but… Aerial photography from a drone confirms that the villa is towering over the cliff. A card key case. A card key. Sabah is an Arabic word meaning “good morning.” Probably a hedgehog figurine to remove sand from shoes. Go inside. The villa costs 9,660 SAR (2,575 USD) per night. Living room, dining room, and private pool. The interior is 80 square meters, and the exterior is 100 square meters. The bathroom is at the back. The interior was designed by Canadian Studio Paolo Ferrari. Let’s start with the living room and dining room. An ice bucket. There is already ice prepared, which is nice. Non-alcoholic cocktail from French brand L’Archimiste. This non-alcoholic cocktail is free. Cocktail set from Italian brand Lumian. A book about the Saudi Arabian Red Sea. Welcome messages and things to be careful about. Coexistence with wildlife, etc. Welcome fruits. Beautifully arranged. Welcome sweets. Dates and Arabian sweets, etc. Cutlery from the long-established Italian manufacturer Sambonet. An art that looks like a sunset. The lights and curtain switches are touch-screen. Lace curtains and thick curtains. We can watch resort information on the TV. What’s in this box? A pencil and a ballpoint pen. A power outlet and USB ports. A book about the moon. Dice and dominoes games. A phone from the Danish brand Jacob Jansen. Let’s take a look at the minibar. Aran Miglia, ginger ale, and soda water. Coke and Sprite. Non-alcoholic sparkling wine from Natureo in Spain. Non-alcoholic sparkling rose from Wild Idol in Germany. Non-alcoholic beer from Corona in Mexico. Coffee sold in Saudi Arabia. Non-alcoholic beer from Belgium, BIERE DES AMIS. The letters are big. Milk from Italy, KOITA. Water from Nova, Saudi Arabia. Only non-alcoholic sparkling drinks and wine are charged, everything else is free. Nuts and dates from Bateel, a Saudi Arabian brand. Popcorn and chips. Candy. Date bars. Healthy food. Chips and popcorn are also available here. These snacks are free. Three types of Nespresso coffee capsules. Tea from Indian brand Avancha. Three types of tea. Coffee machine from Swiss brand Nespresso. Used by many luxury hotels. Nespresso milk frother. Fellow electric kettle. A brand designed in San Francisco and manufactured in China. Stylish cups. The coffee cups are also stylish and come in three sizes. A bottle opener and small spoons. The entrance door has a secure internal lock and a peephole. It would be scary if the villa caught fire. Since it’s a new resort, all the switches are touch-screen. Next, let’s take a look at the terrace. To the left… Table and chairs. It has one large sunbed and offers views of the Hejaz Mountains. A private pool with adjustable temperature. Let’s take a look below. It seems like we can survive even if we fall in. The pool is surprisingly small. There are two sun loungers. We can relax while watching the natural scenery. Towels are prepared in a basket, so it’s good preparation. It must be hard to build a villa in a place like this. And there are 64 rooms in total. Back inside. The bedroom is in the middle. A king-size bed. The pillows and mattress are from Dubai brand Huxberry. The bed linen is made by Frette, a top Italian brand. The hotel’s original memo paper and pencil. There are electrical outlet and USB ports. A sign requesting a change of bed linen. Bluetooth speaker from Swiss brand Geneva. A book about camels from Saudi Arabia. There is a TV in the bedroom too. Let’s take a look at the dressing table and storage space. A mirror with LED lights. Ear buds Cotton pads. A figurine of some kind. Two wardrobes. A prayer mat. Regular hangers. A laundry set and a shoe bag. A sticky roller, a shoehorn, a brush, and a standby light. A training mat. A swimsuit bag. Fluffy indoor slippers. Sandals. Different sandals for men and women. A bathrobe. Made by Frette, a top Italian brand. An ironing board and iron. On this shelf… There’s another mat here. A straw hat for women. A safety deposit box. A straw hat for men. A resort bag. The bag has a sturdy handle. There are small compartments inside. A hair dryer from British brand Dyson. They also put a lot of effort into their home appliances. We can access the terrace from the bedroom. Let’s take a look at the bathroom. A large bathtub. The window offers an open view. Bath salts. Pumice stone. Used to remove dead skin from feet. Soap from Italian brand 19-69 (Nineteen Sixty Nine). A bath pillow. What is this? A stylish twin-sink washstand. Face towels. Soap and body lotion from the KASBAH series, an Italian brand, 19-69. Tissues are provided. What is this? (Found out at night). Dental kit, shaving kit, comb, nail kit. Shower cap, mouthwash, dental floss. A stylish bathroom scale. Separate shower booth. With rain shower. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash from the KASBAH series, an Italian brand, 19-69. A loofah sponge. A cool hand shower from Italian brand Gessi. A handle with a simple design. A toilet from the Japanese brand TOTO. It is the same as the Shebara Resort that I went to before, only the toilet is made in Japan. It has functions such as a washlet. The villa has a convenient layout. I felt that many of the things in the villa were European brands. All villas and suites come with a private butler. Butler planned the itinerary for me. In the northern mountain massif of the resort, there are cave suites, an adult pool, and an observation deck. The observation deck, which is the highest point in the resort, can be accessed through a suspension bridge. We will move to the northern mountain massif of the resort. On this day, a sunset yoga activity was booked at the observation deck from 5:30 pm. We arrive at a building in the northern mountain massif. The resort also allows us to rent mountain bikes to get around. It seems that there are cave suites and villas up ahead. The cave suites and villas around here are a little more expensive. This is the adults-only pool. From the pool, we can see the beautiful natural scenery of the desert and the valley. From here, there are 630 steps. Up ahead is… A long suspension bridge. Beyond the suspension bridge, there are many stairs. This is located on a hill in the north of the resort, and we can see the whole resort grounds. Over there is the main building with the lobby. The main pool. I cross a suspension bridge. It may be scary for those with a fear of heights. We will climb 630 steps. It’s quite hard, so I recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes. I walk for about 10 minutes and arrive at the observation deck. There is a bar on the observation deck, which is open from 5pm to 7pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I am looking forward to sunset time. Let’s go ahead. The bar serves shisha, mocktails, dates, etc. (It was closed on this day). A rugged valley. Towels and dates. I do sunset yoga for about 30 minutes from 5:30pm. Since I don’t usually do yoga, it was an extraordinary experience. Yoga at the top of the mountain massif felt spiritual. After yoga, we can see a beautiful sunset. The mountain massif, which was yellowish brown during the day, turns reddish brown when illuminated by the sunset. An impressive sunset. The suspension bridge seen from the top of the mountain massif. The building with the triangle-shaped roof is the spa. Those are the WADI Villas. The rates are the cheapest in the resort. The main building and pool we saw earlier. The signature restaurant and bar. The Cliff Hanging Villa where we stayed. 2-bedroom WADI Villas. The best sunset. The suspension bridge looks like it is only supported by two wires. I was a little worried that the suspension bridge would collapse. The observation deck and sunset yoga were the best experiences. If you go to this resort, the observation deck and sunset viewing are highly recommended. Dates and Saudi coffee provided. We will g to the triangle-shaped spa. This resort’s buggy arrives early and the movement is smooth. It is run by the same company as the Shebara resort I visited previously, but the level of service is so high that it’s hard to believe it’s the same resort. The spa is open from 10am to 10pm. I arrive at the spa around 7pm. The lights started to come up and the atmosphere was good. Inside, there is a reception and a boutique. 4 types of aroma oil. We can choose the aroma oil to use during the massage treatment. Fill out the form. A honey lemon welcome drink. Let’s take a look at the spa boutique. Skin care products from the British brand AMRA. Prices are high. Skin care products from the Swiss brand Dr Burgener. Massage guns are also available. Straw hats and accessories. Sunscreen from the UAE brand SUNKISS. Desert Rock’s original caps. Sunglasses from the Portuguese brand FORA. A staff member will show me around the spa. To the changing room. Next to the changing rooms there are saunas and a jacuzzi. Mist sauna. Dry sauna. Heated loungers. Jacuzzi. Shower in the changing room. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Lockers for nine. Bathrobe. Bath towel, accessory tray, disposable shorts. Sandals. At the sink… Body lotion. The same amenities as in the villa are provided. Next… Relaxation lounge. Large jacuzzi. The relaxation lounge we saw earlier. Spa pool. If I have time, I’ll want to take a rest here. There are five treatment rooms for singles and couples. Each treatment room has a shower booth. I will receive a 60-minute massage here (charge applies). 60-minute massage is over. Take a break here. We are free to eat fruit, muffins and chocolate. I have dates and tea. The tea had a strange taste. Let’s take a little walk around the spa. Water therapy. The latest equipment has been introduced. There is a water therapy treatment table and several types of showers. There is a hammam. Private hammam treatment room. It was a well-equipped spa facility. Next, we will g to the signature restaurant, Nyra. The restaurant also has a bar called Mica. Before 9 pm. It was completely dark outside. We will move to the restaurant Nyra. Nyra is open from 6:30 pm. to 11 pm. Let’s go inside. There is an open kitchen. There are indoor and outdoor table seats. This restaurant, Nyra, is headed by Michelin-starred restaurateur and chef Osman Sezener. The pristine artistry of wood-fired cooking combined with a commitment to locally sourced ingredients creates an unforgettable dining experience. The terrace faces northwest, allowing us to enjoy the sunset in the evening. There is no one there now, but around 10pm local Saudi Arabian people start to gather. View from the terrace. Main building and pool. The northern massif. The suspension bridge is lit up. The welcome drink is a mocktail. Signature cocktails, wines (all non-alcoholic). Non-alcoholic beer, soft drinks. Tea, coffee. Chef Osman’s tasting menu 650 SAR (173.3 USD). Not very hungry, I order from the a la carte menu. Chef Osman’s Garden starters. Starters. Variety. Main courses. Dry – Aged Butcher Cuts and Side dishes. Desserts. Mocktail called Nyra flower. Amuse-bouche. Prosciutto and potatoes. Tart. Focaccia, olive oil with balsamic vinegar. Sea bass, 150 SAR (40 USD). Sea bass dumplings topped with caviar and green apple sauce. This dish looks different than what I would expect from the menu name, but it tasted fantastic. Beef cheek, 245 SAR (65.3 USD). Topped with a sauce made from Turkish coffee. Every dish seems to be elaborate. Chef Osman’s baklava, 80 SAR (21.3 USD). It was delicious. Mignardises. The bill. Bar Mica is located next to the restaurant. Bar Mica is open from 5pm to 1am. Bar Mica serves innovative mocktails and small plates. Although not shown in the video, local Saudis were enjoying the bar. There is an observation space on the floor above the bar. It’s dark at night and we can’t see the surroundings very well, so it might be better to go around dusk. This is a bar with a very nice atmosphere. We will move to a tent that I have booked from 10 pm. The lobby area at night. It’s surprisingly quiet at night. We can hear the sounds of insects pleasantly. We can walk from the main building to the tent. Walking through the desert. There is a single Bedouin tent I enter the Bedouin tent and have a Saudi coffee. Near the resort is the traditional Bedouin village of Durfe. In this tent, we can experience the culture of the Bedouin of Saudi Arabia. During the day, Bedouin pottery experience workshops are sometimes held. We can play games in the tent. Shisha is also provided. Let’s take a look at the facilities in the main building. This is the restaurant Basalt, which is an all-day dining restaurant. Breakfast is served in the morning, and Indian food is served at lunch and dinner. Table seats are also available for group enjoyment. The entrance to the restaurant Basalt. It is closed now. Let’s take a look at the boutique. The best hits and collections of famous singers. Record players. Headphones. This resort seems to be particular about music. Accessories such as bracelets. Hats. Similar to the hats in the villas. Desert Rock original polo shirts. Light blue, black, grey, red-pink, etc. Sunglasses by Portuguese brand FORA. I found the same ones at the spa. Desert Rock caps 160 SAR (42.7 USD). Flashy colors. Next to the lobby area… There is a library that is open from 10am to 10pm. We can order tea, snacks such as sandwiches, and ice cream. The fireplace creates a nice atmosphere. There is also a record player here. I don’t really understand, but I can feel the resort’s attention to music. There are books to learn about Saudi Arabian culture. Saudi coffee, traditional costumes, dates, camels, etc. There are also several meeting rooms. They can be used as business venues and banquet halls. Let’s go to the main pool. It’s dark now so we’ll check it out tomorrow morning. Let’s take a look at the gym. The gym is open 24 hours a day. According to the website, the gym is designed to meet the needs of fitness enthusiasts at all levels. Towels and water are provided for our convenience. State-of-the-art massage guns. Body composition analysis equipment. Technogym cardio machines. Almost all of the equipment is from Technogym. Dumbbells, training benches, training machines. Kettlebells, etc. Basic training machines are available. Next, we will look at the kids club. The kids club is open from 10am to 7pm. The kids club offers fun experiences for children aged 4 to 12 years old in a safe and attractive environment. Small children aged 1 to 3 years old can participate with their parents. Indoor play area. Outdoor play area. The outdoor play area is well-equipped. Around 11:00 pm, we will return to the villa. The path to the villa is lit by lamps. Check to see if the turndown service has been performed. The curtains are closed during the turndown service. Slippers and water are placed by the bedside. Bath Bomb. What I didn’t know during the day turned out to be a lamp at night. Chocolate service. Have a happiness day. In the pod… A hot drink with ginger flavor. The private pool at night. At night it is very dark and we can’t see anything. The pool at night is lit up in a blue-green color. The stars looked beautiful at night. It’s hard to tell from the video, but the stars were clearly visible with the naked eye. Let’s try using the bath bomb. This is a spherical bath additive. It takes about 5 minutes to completely dissolve. Let’s take a look at the amenities. Wooden comb and dental floss. Shower cap kit. MARVIS toothpaste and wooden toothbrush. Razor and nail kit. Check out the shower from Italian brand Gessi. The water pressure in the shower was weak, which was a bit disappointing. If I see a Gessi shower in a hotel I go to in the future, I’ll be a bit wary. Of course, the resort offers free Wi-Fi. The location makes it seem like the internet environment is poor, but the Wi-Fi speed is not that fast. Since I’m here, I’ll go into the pool. Since it’s a heated pool, I can enter the pool as if I were in a hot spring. I take a relaxing bath in the bathtub in the villa. The next morning. This villa faces south. The other side faces east, so we should be able to see the sunrise, but… There are tall rocks around, so the sunrise was not very clear. The rocks change color when illuminated by the morning sun. After a while, the sun came out. Many birds can be seen within the resort. They came to drink water from the pool. We will move to restaurant Basalt. Around 8:30am in the morning. The air is fresh outside. Breakfast is served from 7am to 11am. As this is a resort with 64 rooms, the breakfast restaurant is not very large. However, there are not many people, so you can have your breakfast in peace. Tables for groups. Tables for families and couples. Outdoor tables. You can eat while looking at the northern mountain range. Vitality drink. Breakfast is semi-buffet style and costs 220 SAR (58.65 USD). However, if you book a room with breakfast included, it is free. Cereals, yogurt, fruits. Healthy bowls and platters. Local specialty dishes. Specialty eggs. Desserts. All prices include 15% tax. In addition to the a la carte menu, there is a buffet menu. There is an open kitchen at the back. Special jams and butter. Lots of bread and pastries. The croissants look delicious. There are so many varieties. Sandwiches and bagels. Gluten-free station. The a la carte menu is more extensive, so I think ordering a la carte is the norm. Chia seed pudding. Chamomile. The cup and pot are stylish. Specialty Eggs, Shakshuka. Fresh fruits. Shakshuka is a Middle Eastern scrambled egg, but this one doesn’t feel very scrambled. Regional specialty, Manakish. 3 types. Specialty Eggs, Dukka. Avocado, salad, poached eggs. The specialty eggs for breakfast were delicious. Let’s take a look at the WADI Pool & Grill, which we haven’t seen yet. The main pool is open from 8am to 7pm. This pool feels like an oasis in the mountains and desert. There are many sunbeds lined up. There are special sunbeds. Good view. The water is 1.2m (3.93ft) deep. The view from the back of the pool is also good. It’s a fairly large pool. We can order light meals and cocktails by the pool. We can also use private cabana sunbeds. There is a bar and grill restaurant next door. SUNKISS sunscreen is available. The grill restaurant is open from 10am to 7pm and we can order Peruvian dishes for lunch. Tables and sofas. There are also dining tables and seats at the back. It seems like a good place to enjoy Peruvian dishes at lunchtime. Next.. There is a lap pool for exercise. It is about 20m (65.6ft) long and 1.2m (3.93ft) deep. From the pool we can see the northern massif. Let’s take a look at the gym in the morning. A great view from the window. The gym is better during daylight hours. Small sand buggies. We can rent mountain bikes. Wearing a helmet is mandatory. We can ride around the resort on a state-of-the-art mountain bike (the slopes are quite tough). Croquet set. Rackets. We can enjoy various activities and exercises. If you have time, I recommend walking around the resort. Walking up the slopes is a good workout. Return to the villa. We can also have breakfast in the villa. The resort offers various activities. Thrilling hiking. In resort adventures. Electric quad biking tours. Cultural adventures. Dark skies adventures. There is an adventure center behind the northern massif. Since I arrived late the previous day and were unable to do the activity, I will do it from 10am today. We will move to the adventure center behind the northern massif. We are taken there by this sturdy buggy. We drive through the desert on the premises in the buggy. There are trucks and some work is being done. The surroundings are rugged terrain. There are villas there too. Awesome views of the massif. Activities available here include ziplining, via ferrata, abseiling and rock climbing. Recommended for active travelers. This is the adventure center called Akun. Current location. We will climb the northern massif from the back. As this is a dangerous activity, we will wear helmets etc. They lend us a bag filled with water. Safety explanation. I participated in the zip line and via ferrata activities. This is a dangerous activity for those who have not experienced it. It is a tough activity, so it is better to prepare well before trying it. I personally felt that it was quite tough, but it was a good experience. After the activity, I return to the villa. Check-out is at 12 o’clock. I was thirsty, so I had an Aran Millia. 30 minutes left until check-out. Finally, a look at the view from the villa. It is 12 o’clock and I check out. Desert Rock was a wonderful resort, even more than I had imagined. It was an overwhelmingly extraordinary experience. Although the price is high, it is a highly recommended resort. I had a higher overall satisfaction with the Desert Rock than the Shebara Resort I went to before. For now, Desert Rock may be the best resort in the Red Sea Project. We will go to the next resort in a Lucid Air electric car. The shuttle cars of the Red Sea Project are also state-of-the-art and have a cool design. As we drive along the road in the desert… A herd of camels. Over there is the Red Sea International Airport. Antenna towers. Another herd of camels. The next resort is far away and takes about an hour to get there. The next resort is the first purpose-built resort of the Red Sea Project 2030. The name of the resort is Six Senses Southern Dunes. Thank you for watching.

Today we will be staying at Desert Rock Resort, Saudi Arabia’s newest and ultra-luxury mountain resort.

  7. Honestly, this resort appeals to me far more than those assorted Maldives style resorts that have been recently built in this region. This resort is actually kind of unique. And I suspect that I would really enjoy the peacefulness, isolation and natural beauty of this place. IF I had money to burn, I'd stay here for a week or so and just relax.

P.S. I didn't know that wild herds of camels were a thing. I thought that camels were like cows…all domesticated and owned by people. Interesting.

  8. since you asked @ 15:51 = this is a water pitcher used to wash the elbows and feet individually as part of 5 time Islam prayers = this cleaning ritual before every prayer in Arabic is called = Woudou

  9. This is like riding a time machine = to a big bang moment = where the area has not been touched for millions of years (until now of course) = it is rare to see natural places not tainted by investment action or housing plans or resort relocation tourism = just saying

  10. مشروع اسطوري مشروع مذهل رائع رائع

  11. Hi ST this is an amazing and interesting resort vlog in the dessert 👍 I really like all these Red Sea Resorts. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend.

  13. Watch "Itchiboots" from te Dutch 38 year Noraly . She travels around the world on her bike .
For the moment she is in Saudi Arabia , lovely country , nice helpfull people .
