Spectacular views and hot springs in Kagoshima Prefecture. Press the subtitle button or CC button to enjoy the full subtitles. Hello everyone, this is Watatabi. I left Osaka for Kagoshima Prefecture and finally entered Miyakonojo in Miyazaki Prefecture. I can’t stay for a long time, but on this trip I would like to visit the spectacular views and hot springs of Kagoshima Prefecture. I was looking for a hot spring inn in Kagoshima and found one that caught my eye, so I’m staying there today. The location is Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is a hot spring inn called “Yamanoyu” that suddenly appears along a valley in the mountains not far from the city. This time, we will stop by tourist spots along the way as well. First of all, we will head to Sekinoo Falls, which is on the border with Kagoshima Prefecture. Kirishima is a land blessed with the majestic nature of the Kirishima Mountains, the first national park in Japan, and the hot springs that spring from its foot . I’m excited to see what spectacular views and hot springs there are in Kirishima. We arrived at Sekinoo Falls. It seems there is a large waterfall, so I would like to see it. The parking lot is like this and there is a large parking lot that can be used 24 hours a day. There is a cafe in front of the parking lot. It’s very stylish. You can enjoy coffee and snacks while looking at this view. There is also a terrace seat. You can slowly drink your coffee while looking at the rural landscape. The waterfall seems to be over here. You can hear the sound of the waterfall. It’s quite close. I’m not sure if it’s on the camera, but the waterfall is already flowing with a huge splash. It looks very impressive. There is a small waterfall here too. Is it a shrine? It’s a shrine with a shape I’ve never seen before. It’s called Kawakami Shrine… it really does look like a shrine. It seems to be the oldest water god in Kyushu. It seems to have been around for about 400 years, during the Tokugawa Shogunate. Amazing! You can already see it. It ‘s very impressive. It looks like an observation deck here. This is it. “Sekinoo Falls” is a famous waterfall with a width of 40m and a drop of 18m, located on the Shonai River, a tributary of the Oyo River, and has been selected as one of the “100 Best Waterfalls in Japan”. There is a suspension bridge, and the spray and power in front of you makes you feel the breath of the earth. Upstream of Sekinoo Falls, there is a group of potholes that spread across the riverbed, about 600m long and 80m wide. At first glance, it looks like a collection of rugged rocks, but it’s actually a single bedrock that is all connected. The amount of water is insanely amazing! There is a bridge over there, so it seems like you can cross it. I’d like to go there. The suspension bridge with the “Rockfall Occurring” seems to be over here. It was right from the parking lot. It’s a minute or two away. There’s a lot of water splashing. I don’t know if it’s reflected here, but the waterfall is flowing. Surprisingly, it looks like that from here. I feel like it’s more impressive from the observation deck we were at earlier. Let’s go back. The sun has risen. It’s scorching hot again today. It seems that the rainy season will start tomorrow in Kyushu. What a shame. Now we’re heading to a popular tourist spot called “Mizonokuchi Cave” nearby. It’s about 5km from here, about 11 minutes by car. Let’s head there. We’ve arrived. This looks like a parking lot. There’s another parking lot up ahead, but it’s a priority parking lot. So we’ll walk from here. The entrance to the cave seems to be 200 meters away. We’ve walked about 100 meters now, but it says it’s 200 meters to the cave parking lot. What does that mean…? We’ve arrived at the parking lot. This is a priority parking lot where you can park 4 cars. This looks like a toilet. It says “rental flashlights” so it seems to be quite dark. It seems you have to write a list of visitors. About 30 people came just yesterday. There are 5 flashlights here. The cave is right in front of this parking lot. Let’s go. “Mizonokuchi Cave” is one of the largest natural caves in Japan, formed from pyroclastic flow deposits. The entrance to this Mizonokuchi Cave is 14.6 meters wide and 6.4 meters high. What’s surprising is that I thought it had no depth, but it seems to have a total length of 209.5 meters. It’s darker inside than I thought. So I borrowed a flashlight. Let’s go. It is thought to have been formed by repeated erosion and collapse of underground water veins over a long period of time. It was designated as a prefectural natural monument in 1955. In 2021, it will become the first national cultural property in Soo City. This flashlight is not very useful… It goes quite far into the cave. The ceiling is quite high, so you won’t hit your head. This flashlight is completely useless… It seems that entry is prohibited beyond this point. It’s warmer inside than outside. There’s a river next to the cave. It’s really beautiful. There are fish! In this cave. What kind of fish is that? Can you see it? Fish are swimming. This is the farthest you can go. You can only go up to about 20m. It was a mysterious place. I think you’d be able to see a better view if the sun was shining a little more. I think it would have a better atmosphere if you came at a time when the light was shining diagonally. Now, we head to our next destination. It’s a popular tourist spot, but I recommend coming in the morning as there are no people there. Isn’t Kagoshima also famous for tea? There are tea fields here and there. We have arrived. This is a pond called “Takenaka Pond” at the foot of Mount Kirishima. This is the parking lot, but the pond is right in front of us. This pond is so beautiful. Wow, it’s amazing. I wonder how deep it is? “You can see the bottom. There’s a shop over there. They seem to do things like nagashi somen (flowing noodles). I’ve come to the edge of the pond. It’s really beautiful. There’s a similar, very beautiful pond called Maruike nearby, but it’s a well-known tourist destination, so I think everyone goes there instead. That’s why this pond, Takenakaike, has no customers at all. This pond apparently produces 93,000 tons of water per day. Rain that falls at an altitude of 1,000m in the Kirishima mountain range travels underground and springs up here after 50 years. So, if it rains today, it will spring up in this pond 50 years from now. There are a lot of fireflies around here because the water is so clear. I think we’ll be able to see fireflies in about a month. It’s still an hour before opening, but I’ve been told I’ll be able to take a look inside, so I’ll go in. These carp are so beautiful. They ‘re famous for their carp dishes, but I don’t think they serve the carp that lives in this pond. It’s 10 o’clock now, so I’d like to eat here. It seems that you pour somen noodles into this and eat it. The somen has arrived. The somen noodles alone cost 700 yen. What is the point of pouring the somen noodles? I was very curious. They have a nice texture. These look like carp sashimi and carp skin. It seems that you eat it with vinegared miso. This is carp miso soup “koikoku”. And rice balls. It doesn’t have that strong flavor. It has a slightly unique carp taste. You have to be careful with carp sashimi as it has bones. I’ll have the carp sashimi. It’s a bit thick, but I’m a bit worried about the bones. It doesn’t have any bad smell or peculiar taste. This is my first time eating carp skin. It’s skin, so it doesn’t have any taste, so you just enjoy the texture. It’s like boiled pufferfish skin. Sorry, I’m half-eaten. The salt-grilled trout has just arrived. This is the trout and carp set meal. This costs 1800 yen. Thank you for the meal. It was really delicious. I’m heading to my next destination. I came here because I was curious. This is Shiozumi Onsen Ryoma Park. It seems to be the first newlywed hot spring in Japan for Ryoma and Oryo. It seems there are hot springs, foot baths, and a shrine. Admission and foot baths are free. This is the reception for the museum and hot springs. It seems that Sakamoto Ryoma visited here on his honeymoon. This is apparently the honeymoon road, and he walked all the way to this place called Ten-no-Sakahoko on his honeymoon. This is the Sakamoto Ryoma museum. This is the hot spring, and this is the foot bath. It seems to be free. They sell hot spring eggs and towels. I just stopped by out of curiosity, so my main destination is a little further up, where there is a natural hot spring, so I want to go there. There was a space that looked like it could fit 3-4 cars, so I parked there. The entrance to the hot spring seems to be along this road. I think this is the entrance to the hot spring. I don’t know if this is the official name, but it seems to be called Bamboo Forest Hot Spring. This is the entrance. I’m going right away, because there are a lot of cars passing by and it’s dangerous. It seems like there are a lot of users, because the road is not that damaged. Bamboos are fallen everywhere. I’ve come down to a certain extent. Where is the hot spring? I can’t hear the sound of cars passing by when I get here. It’s quite a walk, I thought I’d be there right after I got off… Steam is rising. That’s it. Wow! It’s bubbling up! It looks really hot. The temperature outside is about 25 degrees, but it’s still steaming so I think it’s pretty hot. This depression, which seems to have been created by erosion, serves as a bathtub. The water keeps flowing from above, so I think it’s just the right temperature. There must be some regulars here, as there are even hangers there. It looks like this. A hot spring springs up in the middle of this natural landscape. I’m in the river right now, and it’s really cold. The hot spring ingredients make it amazing. It’s hot at the top, so I’ll try going in the lower part. It’s just the right temperature. Wow, what is this. It ‘s the best! The temperature and location may be the best I’ve ever been to in a natural hot spring. It smells a little like iron. It’s rocky here, so you have to be careful not to get hurt. It’s so luxurious… It’s just the right temperature. The water is good because it’s a natural spring. I’ll try going in here too. This one is deeper, up to my waist. It wasn’t hot at all. I went in a hot spring. It’s been a while since I last went to a natural hot spring. I think this is the best of the natural hot springs I’ve ever been to. I haven’t been in that many natural hot springs. My body is so warm that I want to go into the river. I’m going back. The traffic is amazing… I’m suddenly back to reality . I’m heading to the inn where I’ll be staying tonight. It takes 3 minutes from the hot spring. I’ve arrived. I think this is Myoken Onsen in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. The inn is called Yamanoyu. This inn was abandoned and left abandoned for over 10 years, but it was renovated in March 2024 and has only been open for a year. I was curious so I came here. I’ll check in right away. Right next to the inn is a valley. The room I’ll be staying in this time is 301. I’d like to take a look right away. The room looks like this. First of all, there is one room about the size of a double bed here, and two here. Opposite the bed is a relaxing space. There is a large window, so it feels very open. It’s a renovated building that was abandoned, so it feels a bit old. Just on this side of the bedroom is the toilet and shower room. The toilet looks like this, and this is the shower room. I’m a little worried that there are no slippers in the toilet or this bathroom. This room is more than enough for two people, and there are three double beds. There is only one air conditioner for such a large room, so the cooling effect is poor. You have to be directly under the air conditioner to get cool. This hot spring has an open-air bath. This open-air bath is completely visible. Since it is completely visible, women have to wear a gown when entering. This hot spring is 100% natural. Therefore, it seems that the water temperature is sometimes not good. There seems to be a cafe and a restaurant. As for the price of this inn, I think it is probably the largest room. It was 18,560 yen for two adults for one night with two meals. I think it is a cheap inn in terms of price. If you stay without meals, it will be about 6,700 yen for two adults for one night. If you stay in a normal room, not a large one like this, it will cost about 15,000 yen for two people. On a cheap day, you can stay for about 7,000 yen per person with two meals per night. Prices may vary depending on the day, so just for reference. I took a walk around the building. There was a self-catering space over here. There is also a washing machine. The hot spring is over here. It says this is the second-hand clothing corner. It’s a bit… odd… This is the restaurant. When you leave the restaurant, you will see a terrace. Beyond the terrace is a valley, but if you look directly below, you can’t take a picture because it’s an open-air bath. I went back. I walked around the building. There was no floor guide, so I took a picture. The first floor is the lobby and guest rooms. There are six rooms. There is a self-catering space, and there is also a microwave and vending machines. There are amenities in front of the front desk. The second and third floors are the guest rooms. The basement floor is the restaurant and banquet hall. There is also a terrace. The large communal bath and open-air bath are on the second basement floor. It was like this. There were a few things that bothered me. First of all, I don’t think this inn is suitable for people who don’t like animals. First of all, there was a dog at the entrance. If there was only a dog at the entrance, I wouldn’t have minded, but somewhere there was a loud cat meowing. I’m not sure where it was, but when I went to the terrace, I could smell the animal’s… animal feces and urine. The smell of the feces and urine bothered me. I stayed here because I was attracted by the exterior, but there is quite a gap between the exterior and the interior of the building. The inside was modern, but the basement floor was a very peculiar space. There were second-hand clothes and retro items for sale, and it was a bit of a strange space… I’m going to take a bath. I went to the hot spring. It was a large bath that felt a little old. The large bath wasn’t that big either. The water was a little cloudy. The spring quality was a bicarbonate spring. The listed spring temperature was 41 degrees. I’m heading for dinner. This is what dinner looks like. This is Kirishima black pork. This is chicken sashimi. I don’t get a chance to eat it very often, so I’m looking forward to it. Thank you for the meal. I’ve had dinner. I thought the amount of rice would be small, but I was surprisingly full. Good morning. I couldn’t finish work so I only got about 2 hours of sleep. I’m heading for breakfast now. Breakfast looks like this. There were cats. There are two of them. It seems you can enter. If you like cats, it’s good. This time I stayed at this inn because I was attracted by its exterior, but the exterior and the interior of the building gave a slightly different impression, and it was a very unique space. Rather than enjoying the food and rooms, it was more like a business hotel… it was an inn where guests lived. A few things to note when staying here: First of all, there is a dog at the entrance, and there is a cat’s room on the left hand side as soon as you enter the entrance. So if you have a cat allergy, it may not be a good idea. Also, the outside terrace and that area are a bit… well… I don’t know if it’s because of the animals, but they smell like animal feces and urine. The price is really cheap, so I highly recommend it for those who want to travel on a budget or those who want to really enjoy a hot spring without meals. . Let’s check out. How was your trip this time? I would like to continue traveling in the southern part of Kyushu. See you in the next video! Thank you for watching until the end.

Thank you Mr Watatabi, so many lovely places in nature, it seems to me that you have a special affinity to water in nature, whether it is in the form of waterfalls, springs, hot springs or atmospheric mists and rain.
WOW!
Wonderfull 🇯🇵 🌸🍁
Terima kasih mr watatabi.❤❤❤
So beautiful ❤
Sekinoon Falls look great & a surprise to see fish in the darkness of Mizonokuchi Cave – Facinating to think the rain won't spring up for 50 years at Takenaka Pond & the water is so clear.
Nice shot of the Bamboo Forest Hot Spring at 21:09 👍😊
❤❤❤ that natural spring is epic
Hermoso video. Amo Japon y sus paisajes
OMG The cinematography is simply astounding. Enjoy every single minute.

thank you for this video!
The nature of japan is so beautiful! 😍
