日本さくら名所百選 宮城県の春の風景 白石川堤一目千本桜 / Hitome Senbonzakura (View of a Thousand Cherry Trees) along the Shiroishi Riverbank is one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in the Tohoku region, with rows of cherry blossom trees stretching 8km on both banks of the Shiroishi River, which flows from Ogawara-cho, Shibata-gun, Miyagi Prefecture to Funaoka Japan.
The scenery of approximately 1,200 Yoshino cherry trees is so beautiful that, together with Funaoka Castle Ruins Park, it is the only place in Miyagi Prefecture that has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.
The Ogawara Cherry Blossom Festival is also held when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
The cherry blossoms are lit up with lanterns and lights, and along with the bustle of stalls, you can also enjoy the fantastic cherry blossoms at night, which are different from the daytime.
I love the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms along the Shiroishi River, but I also recommend the Shiroishigawa Senou Park, where colorful spring flowers bloom! You can also walk across the Shibata Senou Bridge and go to Funaoka Castle Ruins Park!

白石川堤一目千本桜は、宮城県柴田郡大河原町から船岡を流れる白石川の両岸8キロに沿って桜並木が続く東北地方屈指の桜名所です。
約1200本のソメイヨシノが連なる風景がとても美しく、船岡城址公園と共に宮城県内唯一の日本さくら名所百選の地にも選ばれています。
桜が満開となり見頃を迎え始める時期には「おおがわら桜まつり」も開催し、ボンボリや照明によるライトアップも行われて、露店の賑わいと共に昼間とは違った幻想的な夜桜も観賞する事ができます。
白石川沿いに桜の花々が咲く美しい風景も好きですが、色とりどりの春の花が咲く白石川千桜公園もオススメ！そのまま徒歩で「しばた千桜橋」を渡って、船岡城址公園まで行く事も出来ますよ！
