Kumano Nachi Taisha is one of the Kumano Sanzan (Three Grand Shrines) Along with “Kumano Hongu Taisha” and “Kumano Hayatama Taisha”! The pilgrimage routes connecting these Kumano Sanzan Are the “Kumano Kodo” Which has been a path of faith for over a thousand years And is registered as a World Heritage site The main pilgrimage routes of the Kumano Kodo are 5 in total! ① Nakahechi The main route from Kii-Tanabe Station to Kumano Hongu Taisha and Nachi ② Kohechi Traversing north to south from Mount Koya to Kumano Hongu! ③ Ohechi From Tanabe along the Pacific coast to Nachi ④ Iseji The ancient path from Ise Shrine to Kumano Sanzan from the east ⑤ Kiiji The ancient path from Kyoto heading south along the Wakayama coast to Tanabe For this trip, we’ll be based in the port town “Nachi-Katsuura,” known for its sea and hot springs! From here, we’ll take a bus to “Daimonzaka” on the Nakahechi route And walk the stone-paved pilgrimage path To head to Nachi Taisha! Nachi Taisha is A majestic shrine that reveres the 133m Nachi Falls as its divine body Next to it stands The ancient temple “Seiganto-ji,” the first of the 33 Saigoku Pilgrimage temples The spectacular view of the vermilion three-storied pagoda
and the great waterfall in the same frame Is an iconic image of Kumano! Also, at “Hirou Shrine” located right in front of the waterfall basin You can worship with the powerful sound of the waterfall behind you!! About access! To get to our base in “Nachi-Katsuura” From the Osaka area From Shin-Osaka Station → about 3.5-4 hours From Nagoya From Nagoya Station → about 3.5 hours From Kii-Katsuura Station to Kumano Nachi Taisha area The Kumano Kotsu Bus bound for “Nachi-san” Runs 1-2 times per hour!!
