日本の弘前桜まつりに行ってきました🌸

Today we’re going to our first cherry blossom festival in Japan. Since it’s late April, we’re in the north at Hiroaki Park, home to over 2500 cherry trees in 52 varieties. Once inside, we were instantly surrounded by blossoms. The park also has a hidden heart, which wasn’t much of a secret, but we did find a free rest area with tea to enjoy before heading to the castle grounds. One thing we loved is how much of this area was free to explore and the red bridges over the moes that were everywhere. For 540 yen, you can get access to the castle grounds, botanical gardens, and memorial garden. We did wait in line for 20 minutes to get this view of the castle, and it was worth it. Then, we climbed all the way to the top. This spot definitely had one of the best views of Mount AK. Things kept getting better with over 100 food stalls, and some of the vendors had seating behind them, which we thought was so neat. We ended up with a cheese dog, these pancake things, and some dumplings. We also caught traditional performances, went to a shrine, and saw plenty of people picnicking under the blossoms.

Here are some highlights of this festival 👇🏼

• About 2,600 Cherry Trees 🤯
• Mt. Iwaki and the Hirosaki Castle backdrop 🏯🏔️
• Over 100 food stalls with traditional foods and snacks 😋
• Guided and Unguided boat tours under the blossoms🚣
• Free enter into the park (540 yen to enter the castle grounds, botanical gardens, & memorial garden) 🌸
