サクラの名所は、日本各地に無数にありますが、海と、残雪残る山々の景色を同時に楽しめるのが、北海道・小樽の手宮公園です。本州以南ではとっくに満開が過ぎた、4月下旬から5月上旬に、桜前線は小樽に到着します。その頃、すでに日本海・石狩湾は夏色に近い青になり、山々はまだ雪が残っています。手宮公園のサクラは、3つの季節のカラーを同時に楽しめる、全国でも数少ない名所です。また、サクラ並木とは趣が違って、手宮公園は、「坂のマチ」小樽らしい丘の斜面に桜が広がり、独特の景観になっています。この年は、満開の時期にさらに澄み切った青空が重なり、これ以上ないサクラの風景でした。【撮影 2024年4月下旬～5月上旬】
