[Abandoned railway line] Walking 81.5km from Furano to Shintoku on the Nemuro Main Line 6/6
0:00 Niinai Station Remains
1:23 It’s now a railway park. There was also a rail bike, which was surprisingly fun.
2:20 It remains the same platform as it was back then.
2:55 If you don’t put the ring in the tablet blockage, the signal and points will not change. It’s unnecessarily realistic
3:47 Moving forward
3:55 The section from Niinai Station to Shintoku Station remained as the Karikachi experimental line until 1979.
It repeatedly carried out fire and derailment tests, contributing to further increasing the speed of the Shinkansen.
7:40 Moving forward
8:45 The scene of the Marimo Express derailment.
In 1951, someone deliberately shifted the rails, causing a derailment.
At the time, there was a conflict between JNR executives and workers over the safety of the Karikachi Tunnel, and a labor dispute was occurring.
The derailment incident remained a source of conflict despite attempts by the American occupying forces, GHQ, and the Japanese police to resolve the situation.
Police investigated 600 suspected JNR executives and workers, but were unable to identify the culprit.
9:38 Grasshopper Mound.Apparently there is a mound nearby where a large number of locusts were buried.
9:44 Kosasa River Railway Bridge. You can get off at the bridge.
11:18 Radio tower used in the experiment
11:48 I stayed at the inn around the corner. Here comes the morning
14:17 Steam Locomotive Square
14:50 Sekishō Line
15:08 The abandoned railway line ends here. Near the junction with the Sekisho Line.
15:18 Shintoku Station
15:35 Tokachi express train bound for Sapporo.
16:16 You can see SL Square from the train window.
16:28 The inn where I stayed was Yorkshire Farm.
The owner left his job as a banker to become a farm owner because he wanted to run a sheep farm in Japan after seeing it in the UK.
The facility is situated on a large 10 hectare site (the size of 14 soccer fields)
The price is 15,000 yen in the high season, including dinner (a course meal of 200g of lamb steak less than 11 months old) and breakfast.
I think it’s pretty cheap
In Tokyo, a lamb steak course alone would cost 15,000 yen.
The room was a normal small room.
19:02 Dinner. I don’t like raw meat, so I ordered it well done, but it was very tender and had no unpleasant odor, and the meat was very fresh.
19:28 There is also a whole roasted lamb for ¥45,000.
19:33 If you take the bus from Furano Station, you can see the abandoned railway line clearly.
Thank you for watching until the end

The peddle train looked fun
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😁
the new route is much shorter, but the old one is very beautiful (after all, there is nothing to see in the tunnel). It's a pity that both are no longer used…
It is a pity that it cannot be restored/preserved as a vintage railway line (even if it was narrow gauge) it looks very picturesque but as with all these types of projects its all about attracting interested volunteers and funding. Nice video. Cheers.
Nice video my friend! The old footage was also cool 🙂 Thank you for the pleasant experience! L25 🙏🇯🇵❤️🛤️🚂👍
