日本最大級の廃墟リゾートを訪問する【八丈ロイヤルホテル、八丈オリエンタルリゾート】
1968（昭和43）年に「八丈ロイヤルホテル」として開業。ハワイのワイキキホテル、イリカイホテルを目指して建設されたそうです。屋上に半円状のドームを頂いた宮殿風の壮麗な建築で、各種大広間やレストラン、テニスコートやディスコなど豪華設備を備えていました。1996年3月20日に「プリシアリゾート八丈」としてリニューアルオープン、さらに2002年頃に「八丈オリエンタルリゾート」と再改称。2006年に休館し、そのまま再開されませんでした。豪奢な設備から「日本三大廃墟の一つ」「日本最大級の廃墟」などとも言われています。

10年ほど前に八丈島を訪問した際、隣の民宿に泊まり、この建物がよく見えました。中が気になっていましたが、外観と違わぬ朽ち方ですね

こんばんは。投稿ありがとうございます。 トリックの聖地が廃墟とは……。 朽ち果てて草が生えてたり天井が落ちてたりすごい酷い状態でしたね。 綺麗な客室まだ利用できそうな感じでしたね。そういえば八丈島は、ドラえもんの四畳半島のモデルや、キテレツ大百科の百丈島のモデル、それに、ひょっこりひょうたん島のモデルにもなった島でしたよね。 猫ちゃんは侵入して出られなくなってしまったんでしょうか……。かわいそうに……😢 毎回、本当にドローンを使った撮影が、美しい映像クオリティで撮影技術が本当に素晴らしいです😊 ありがとうございます。
このホテルを見に行きたくて２年前、わざわざ八丈島に行きました。イリカイホテルを目指してたんですか。バブルとか、離島ブームが
無くならなければ、もしかしたら潰れなかったかもしれないですよね。残念。入り口から中を覗いて写真を撮って帰りましたが、あの
圧倒的な外見は本当に格好良い。部屋の中まで落書きしなくても良いのにとは思ったけど、北側の部屋の緑化は見事ですね。
ホテルの外もスクスクと木が育っているし、そのうち埋もれてしまうんでは無いかと、心配になります。良かったです。

以前haiken氏も仰ってましたが、こんなところまで来て落書きを残すモチベーションはなんなのか不思議でなりません。
自然に朽ちゆく構造物の中に残された落書きを見ると本当に残念な気持ちになります。
今回の猫の件に胸を打たれ、尚更落書きをする輩の残念さを感じました。
I've already watched the video twice, and I have to say—the drone shots at the beginning and the end are absolutely otherworldly. I enjoyed every minute of the 34-minute journey from start to finish.
Hachijojima had been on my list for a long time, and in November 2019, I finally turned that dream into reality. I spent a full week on the island and dedicated almost three days exploring this incredible building. I thought I knew it well, but thanks to you, Haiken-san, I discovered a few more hidden rooms. You are truly a master at visiting these places—congratulations!
The level of decay now is overwhelming compared to what I remember, especially around the front desk and the two bars—the red Mykonos and the blue one on the other side. When I visited, the sushi bar was still intact, with the counter, seats, and dishes all in place. The VIP room upstairs has remained nearly the same. The segment with the cat was really touching, as was your message about souls. Like you, I’m not particularly interested in ghost stories, but that part was deeply moving.
Speaking of eerie experiences, in October last year, I visited an abandoned love hotel in Wakayama. Most of the rooms were open, but one was closed. Inside, I found a well-preserved space with a circular bed. As I panned my phone across the room, I noticed some excrement on the carpet—clearly from an animal. Then, my eyes landed on the bed, where I saw a mummified cat, still covered in fur. That moment hit me hard. I love cats, and imagining what must have happened was painful. Perhaps the wind shut the door behind the poor creature, trapping it inside until it starved… Sorry to share such a somber story.
On a lighter note, the stone head you mentioned at the end is actually made of polystyrene—it’s very light! I even moved it a little. 😊
One last thing: when you were in the game room under the restaurant in the Venus building, you pointed out an overgrown swimming pool outside. Back in 2019, it was already quite thick with vegetation, but I was determined to access it. I crawled through the brush and made my way inside—it was massive! I love abandoned swimming pools. I also tried reaching the man-made lake on the other side but couldn’t get to it.

落書きなんて恥ずべき行為だけど、客室のものは部屋の奥にあって不思議とそこにマッチしている。最後のピンクのペイントは思わず感嘆してしまった笑 犯人は同じですかね？
