Hidden Gem in Japan – Winter Escape 🇯🇵 – Aizuwakamatsu, Ashinomaki Onsen, Ouchijuku, Lake Inawashiro
Continuing with our last trip from Yamagata area, now we are going to Aizuwakamatsu area for a few days to experience the onsen town winter scene.
The atrium lobby of the inn “Okawaso” in Ashinomaki Onsen, Fukushima, has been talked about as resembling the “Infinite Castle” that appears in the manga “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.”

I also love trying different hotels on a trip and even during a night out sometimes try different places for different courses of the meal, if there are options at walking distance😄
While Ginzan was its own kind of isolated winter beauty, this place seems like a lot can be enjoyed in other seasons too

I will be visiting this hotel in the Fall this year. On the site, this hotel announced that they no longer provide pick up shuttle service at the Aizuwakmamatsu station after March 2025 and only at that cat station I believe. Wondering how easy or hard it is for tourists to catch taxis around there to visit different areas since the bus schedule seems limited. I'm from the US too and I just don't see myself driving in a foreign country.
