[Abandoned railway line] Walk 81.5km from Furano to Shintoku on the Nemuro Main Line 1/6
Due to damage caused by a typhoon in 2016, the line from Higashi-Shikagoe Station to Shintoku Station was closed.
Restoration work will cost 1.05 billion yen, and even if the line is restored, it will still incur an annual deficit of 980 million yen.
Inevitably, the dead-end line from Furano Station to Higashi-Shikagoe Station will be closed in 2024.
The 362.1km long Nemuro Main Line has become a main line that does not go all the way to Nemuro.
The new bypass line, Sekisho Line, runs to Nemuro.
0:43 The Nemuro Line and the Furano Line to Furano are also unprofitable and in danger of being closed down.
1:52 Generally, it is forbidden to enter the abandoned railway line. The next stop is the remains of Nunobe Station, and runs right next to National Route 38.
I didn’t walk on the train tracks because I didn’t want to get caught by the police.
5:23 The former site of Nunobe Station. It was also used as a location for a TV drama.
11:23 Former site of Yamabe Station.
16:35 Former site of Shimokanayama Station

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The shots of the mountains are beautiful. I've been to Japan 3 times and I still wish I could have seen more nature. The cities are really nice and everything, but being in the countryside and in the mountains is just so peaceful.
Wow, kinda sad to hear, everything seems still in good shape, those mountain looks beautiful…
By the way, the nature is very beautiful. Although I have only seen Hokkaido on video, I consider it one of the most beautiful (and underrated) places in Japan.
Those single-car diesel train carriages scurrying across the Japanese countryside… one of my favorites. 😉
Sweet walk my friend! The mountains in the background and flowing water soothed me 🙂 Thank you for the peaceful experience! L14 🙏🇯🇵❤️🛤️💦🌿⛰️👍
