冬の弟子屈町 Teshikaga-cho in Winter
弟子屈町は北海道の東部にあり、市街地の北東に摩周湖、北西に屈斜路湖がある主幹産業は観光と酪農の町である。気候は冷涼で年間の平均気温は5℃であり、真夏でも1日の平均気温は20℃以下となっており、12月から3月にかけての平均気温は氷点下となる。とにかく寒い。しかし北海道を代表する湖、「摩周湖」と「屈斜路湖」があり温泉も豊富にある為、国内外からの観光客が多く訪れている。鉄道の駅名もかつての「弟子屈駅」から1990年に知名度の高い「摩周駅」に改称された。観光地としては屈斜路湖畔の方に温泉や宿泊施設が多くある。摩周湖は古くから景勝地としては知られていたが湖畔に温泉施設も無く交通が不便な為、観光客もほとんど来なかったが、1966年に歌手の布施明が歌った「霧の摩周湖」のヒットがした事で有名になり多くの観光客が訪れる様になった。この歌には作詞者の水島哲が作曲家の平尾昌晃の部屋で平尾と布施明に摩周湖の魅力を語りながら一節ずつ歌詞を書き、それに平尾がギターで曲を付けて、布施が歌い、一晩で完成させたと云うエピソードが残っている。
Teshikaga Town is located in the eastern part of Hokkaido, with a cool climate and an average annual temperature of 5°C. Even in midsummer, the average daily temperature is below 20°C, and especially during the winter months from December to March, the average temperature is below freezing. The town is home to two of Hokkaido’s most famous lakes, Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo, and is also rich in hot springs, making it a bustling town with tourists throughout the year.
