大菩薩嶺は甲府盆地の北東に位置し、山梨・東京・埼玉とつながる秩父多摩甲斐国立公園の一部です。日本百名山に数えられています。江戸時代には、武蔵国と甲斐国を結ぶ旧青梅街道の重要な峠として、多くの人々が往来していたといいいます。標高は2057mですが、車でアクセスできる最も標高の高い登山口は1600mのため、交通至便で登りやすく、首都圏の日帰りハイカーに人気が高いです。
大菩薩嶺を巡るコースは、初心者向けから中級者までバラエティ豊かで、新緑や紅葉の季節と時期を変えて、ブナ林やカラマツ林、鬱蒼としたコケの森、険しい岩場、山野草の群生など、山道では歩みを進めるごとに景色の変化を楽しめます。
Daibosatsu-rei is located in the northeast of the Kofu Basin and is part of the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, which connects Yamanashi, Tokyo, and Saitama. It is counted among the 100 famous mountains of Japan. During the Edo period, it was an important pass on the old Ome Kaido road connecting Musashi and Kai provinces, and many people passed through it. The altitude is 2,057m, but the highest trailhead accessible by car is 1,600m, so it is easily accessible and easy to climb, and is popular with day hikers in the metropolitan area.
There are a variety of courses around Daibosatsu-rei, from beginners to intermediate hikers, and you can enjoy the changing scenery as you walk along the mountain trail, with beech forests, larch forests, dense moss forests, steep rocky areas, and clusters of wildflowers, depending on the season of fresh greenery and autumn leaves.
