Japan Has Changed | Top 9 New Rules to Know Before Traveling to Japan in 2025
Japan is hotter than ever for travelers! In 2024, a record-breaking 36.8 million tourists visited Japan, and the numbers keep growing.
With this boom, a lot of big changes—both good and bad—are happening for visitors.
On the bright side, Japan is making travel easier—like faster immigration checks at airports and exclusive travel passes for foreign tourists.
But there are also downsides—some countries now have stricter visa rules, and Japan’s rising rice prices are driving up the cost of Japanese food.
So in this video, I’ll cover 9 key updates you need to know before visiting Japan in 2025, so you can travel smarter, smoother, and stress-free!

Yay Toshi posted the new scoop!
I will keep an eye on things, but still a few years off, it is a good place for Canadians to go right now with the exchange rates
Toshi, what's the historical significance of the dog statue?
Toshi, I greatly appreciate all the videos that you're doing right literally within the two week time frame right now, in order to go into japan and I have been watching your videos since last year
Thank you , Toshi San ❤
Looking forward to my trip in September ❤.
Regarding rice prices. Just make the farmers who are getting subsidies to not farm rice to go ahead and plant a crop this year.
Thank you Toshi.
I'm so happy to hear about Osaka banning smoking on public streets.
Will be there in 8 days for a 57 day trip!
The tourist pass? I want that!!
Is there an issue why filipinos are given limited slots for visa and other countries don't have limits?

I plan to go to Osaka for the World Expo 2025 and am happy to hear no smoking or vaping. I am sure this is not good news for some Japanese people and travelers, but this is a good time to quit.

I experienced the new arrival immigration changes on the 23rd Feb. Everyone was really confused at first. We have to get a QR code by uploading details online. It's a bit difficult because not many people have access to internet upon arrival. So you can fill out cards. Staff are very helpful and they can speak English too 🌸
I have been to japan many times. My fav destinations are Osaka and Sapporo. Thx for the update
Hi Toshi, thanks as always for your video, I went up both the Tokyo Tower and the Tokyo Skytree and the Shibuya Sky, all really very beautiful attractions, for other news if they remove the taxes for Chinese tourists there will be an even more massive invasion than what is already happening, on my last trip last February I practically saw almost exclusively Chinese tourists.
The "visit Japan web" app has been around for a while and was definitely there a couple of years ago. It makes it easy to get through immigration in seconds, allowing you to scan your passport and scan a QR code from your smartphone. I have no idea what percentage of tourists know about it. Before landing in Japan, flight attendants hand out immigration forms but they never told people that they aren't needed if they used the app ahead of time. I had to tell my wife each time not to fill them out.
It makes things faster because you do the work ahead of time. I haven't used it since last April so it's not fresh in my mind, but you fill things in and then wait for approval. The app also allowed you to prepare for tax free procedures but I think that part is changing anyway and won't be helpful in the future.
Many Japanese people are fed up with bothersome non japanese tourist. Please follow the rules and the law.
