The huge Kegon Falls is a must-see power spot.
① Kegon Falls
🏞️Kegon Falls is one of the three most famous waterfalls in Japan.
The water from Lake Chuzenji falls from a height of 97m, and on average, about 3 tons of water falls per second.
It was designated a national scenic spot in 1931, and was selected as one of Japan’s 100 best geological sites in 2007.
👟Take the Kegon Falls Elevator to reach the observation deck, which is quite close to the waterfall basin. The spectacular sight of the water splashing and the roaring sound is very impressive. Many visitors from overseas were there, enjoying taking photos.
🌳🍂❄️You can enjoy the scenery of the four seasons.
In May, beautiful fresh greenery, in June, asian house martin fly around the falls, and in autumn, you can enjoy the beautiful colors of the autumn leaves. From January to February, you can see the “blue ice” as the thin waterfalls freeze.
📝I was surprised that it was much larger than I had imagined, and was a magnificent view. You can easily reach the waterfall by elevator, I could say it is suitable for casual sightseeing.
② Lake Chuzenji
Lake Chuzenji is a beautiful natural landscape that has been selected as one of the 100 most scenic spots in Japan.
🏞️It is said that the original shape of Lake Chuzenji was created 20,000 years ago when the valley was blocked by lava from the eruption of Mt. Nantai, a famous mountain of faith. As it is the highest lake in Japan, it is also popular as a cool summer resort.
🚣♀️Hiking trails, driving routes, and observation decks are dotted along the lakeside, allowing you to enjoy the magnificent natural scenery. Another popular activity is to take a sightseeing boat and enjoy the view from the water. This time, we only stopped by briefly, but if we have the opportunity to go again, we would like to take a sightseeing boat.

🚃🚌From JR Nikko Line “Nikko Station” or Tobu Nikko Line “Tobu Nikko Station”, take the Tobu bus bound for “Yumoto Onsen” or “Chuzenji Onsen” and get off at “Chuzenji Onsen bus stop”. 5 minutes walk.

日光の名所で冬景色を堪能。巨大な華厳ノ滝は、必見の有名スポット。
①華厳ノ滝（けごんのたき）
日本三大名瀑の一つで、日光の名所となっている華厳ノ滝。
🏞️日光には数多くの滝が流れており、華厳ノ滝はその中で最も有名です。
中禅寺湖の水が高さ97mの高さから一気に落下し、平均すると1秒間に約3トンの水が流れ落ちています。
1931年には国の名勝に指定され、2007年には日本の地質百選に選定されています。
👟華厳滝エレベーターに乗ると、滝つぼの近くまで降りられる観爆台へ到着。爆音とともに水しぶきが弾ける豪快な姿は、迫力満点です。海外から来ている方も多く、記念撮影などをして楽しんでいました。
🌳🍂❄️四季折々の景色が楽しめるのも魅力の一つ。
5月には美しい新緑、６月にはイワツバメが滝周辺で見られ、秋は紅葉に彩られます。１月から２月にかけては十二滝と呼ばれる細い小滝が凍って青く輝く「ブルーアイス」と呼ばれる光景を見ることができます。
📝想像していたよりも、かなり巨大で驚きました。有名なだけあって、これぞ絶景と言えるような素晴らしい景色でした。エレベーターで簡単に降りられますし、気軽な観光にも適しています。
②中禅寺湖
日本百景にも選定された、美しい自然景観が魅力の中禅寺湖。
🏞️2万年前に、信仰の山として名高い「男体山」の噴火による溶岩で渓谷がせき止められ、原形ができたと言われています。日本一標高の高い場所にある湖のため、夏でも涼しく過ごせる避暑地としても人気です。
🚣♀️湖畔にはハイキングコースやドライブルート、展望台が点在し、雄大な自然景観を楽しむ事ができます。遊覧船に乗って水上からの景色を楽しむのも人気のアクティビティー。今回は軽く寄っただけでしたが、また行く機会があれば、遊覧船にも乗ってみたいと思いました。
