matsudai Gongen in Anan City is popularly called “Nekogami-san” (Cat God).
The shrine is very famous in Tokushima as a god for success in entrance examinations and attracts many worshippers during the exam season. The shrine is also known as a “sacred place for cat lovers” because of the many beckoning cats on the shrine grounds, and more and more people visit the shrine not only from within Tokushima Prefecture but also from far away.

Omatsu Daikongen is located in a mountain town far from the center of Anan City. The route is a little difficult to find if you are going there for the first time, but there are several signs along the way that say “Omatsu Daikongen” (Omatsu Gongen).
It takes about 40 minutes by car from the center of Tokushima City via National Route 55.
