Known as Japan’s first sake brewery hotel, Kurabito Stay is a women-owned joint venture that lets visitors experience what it’s like to live and work as a sake brewer — for a day. Built as a joint venture between a 300-year-old local sake brewery and an accommodation operator in the well known sake-brewing region of Saku in Nagano Prefecture, Kurabito Stay’s philosophy emphasizes the importance of continued tradition that tackles surface-leveled mass tourism, encourages regional revitalization and women’s participation in the local labor market.
We had the pleasure of visiting and participating in the sake-making process ourselves and spoke to the friendly faces behind Kurabito Stay. Here are some of our favorite moments there. 🍶✨
