  1. The great cathedral was begun during the reign of William 2nd however he seems to have been all but airbrushed out of English history as he is very seldom mentioned. The only time we hear anything about him now is in regard to his mysterious death at only 44 during a hunting expedition though he was a very influential monarch.

  2. Hello Simon / Will , great video Durham has a lot to see its a place i know very little about , thanks for this well worth a trip.

  3. Thanks to your videos, I may have to get a bigger bucket to keep my wishlist in. Your presentations are top notch 😊

  4. Thanks for the beautiful video. Love history and learnt a lot from your videos. Greetings from NZ😊

  5. I love this, I have lived less than 45 minutes from Axbridge all my 53 years of life, and never knew any of the facts that you find.
Really looking forward to hearing about Wells next week, you really do some great research into the places you visit.
    Thankyou for visiting Somerset xxx❤

  6. Sad that William had to take his throne back from Harold the usurper. Imagine how much better it would have been if Harold simply called upon William and showed him to the throne. But we can't change history. Maybe however we can change a few minds. William was married to a descendant of Alfred the Great. But Britain fails to recognize her in any of the stories.

  7. Durham cathedral is where Saint cuthbert was buried a tomb inside the cathedral… Pilgrims from all over Europe came to pray and miracles were seen….. It was Catholic built by catholics…. St cuthbert is the patron saint of Northumberland…. 4 monks had to carry his coffin from lindisfarne in the 7th century to escape the viking raids… For years they travelled stopping all over the north East in hideaway places…. To keep from being captured by vikings…
When they came to Durham the cart where he laid pulled by horses stopped and wouldn't go any further… Monks took this as a sign… That this place is where he will rest… So they built the first church on the spot made of wood in the 8th century….

Which is where he lay until the 16th century and protestant reformation… An army was sent to Durham to destroy the relics of St cuthbert…. But the monks took him away and replaced him with another…

Story has it that he was un- corrupted and looked like he was sleeping when the monks opened his coffin in 11th century…. Only his garments were decayed…. And his whereabouts is a mystery… England was catholic for a thousand yrs… The English were robbed of the true faith of our ancestors… Henry 8th forced this imposter on us…. Built on lust, greed and power… Much blood is on his hands and Elizabeth 1, also Cromwell…. Devil's… England is the dowry of "Blessed virgin Mary" and we were blessed "Merry England" it was… 500yrs of lies of those who rule over us… England will return to her Catholic roots.. Stolen from us…. The faith of our people the English…. Christ is king….

    God bless!
    Ave Maria!

  8. Thank you for another excellent video. You guys have become outstanding film makers, in my opinion. It was such a treat to visit Durham with you, a place I have never been to, and to see it from so many different angles, places and views, in a way I would never be able to see it, even if I did have the good fortune to visit it myself! And the joy is I can go back and re-watch and re-visit anytime thanks to you. You really give us such a special gift with all your videos, and provide an invaluable service. It is such a lovely escape from a world too often in turmoil, and filled with so much doom and gloom according to the "news" media. Whenever I start feeling a bit down then I think what are the Memory Seekers up to, and look for your latest effort. It never fails to cheer me up and restore my sanity, reminding me what the majority of ordinary, decent folk are about.
