Naoshima is an island in Kagawa Prefecture located in the Seto Inland Sea.
It is an island located north of Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, and south of Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, with an area of 8 km2, a circumference of 28 km, and a population of approximately 3,000 people.
As I introduced last time, it is an island where modern art harmonizes perfectly with beautiful nature and old townscapes.
Benzaiten is enshrined here. Benzaiten is the only female deity among the Seven Lucky Gods and the god of water (guardian of the sea).
This year’s zodiac sign, the snake, is said to be the messenger of Benzaiten, and the white snake is said to be the incarnation of Benzaiten.
By the way, the TV animation “Summer Pockets” will begin in April 2025.
The story is set on Torishirojima, a fictional remote island in the Seto Inland Sea, with Naoshima, Ogijima, and Megijima as motifs.
The outskirts of the island where the main heroine, Shiroha, skips school to go fishing is modeled after Benzaiten.

香川県高松市の北、岡山県玉野市の南に位置する、面積8km2、周囲28km、人口が約3千人の島です。
前回紹介させていただきましたとおり、現代アートが美しい自然や古い町並みと見事に調和した島です。
ここには弁財天が祀られています。弁財天は七福神の中で唯一、女性の神で水の神様（海の守護神）です。
そして今年の干支である蛇は弁財天の使者とされており、白蛇は弁財天の化身と言われています。
ところで、2025年4月よりTVアニメーション『Summer Pockets』が始まります。
瀬戸内海にある架空の離島である鳥白島（とりしろじま）が舞台で、直島、男木島、女木島がモチーフとされているそうです。
メインヒロインのしろはが学校をさぼって釣りをしている島の外れはここ「弁財天」がモデルとなっています。
