Ukraine (Україна) is, geographically, the second-largest European country after Russia, and this region has been inhabited since 32,000 B.C. So, we will only cover a few points on its timeline, in order to help you better understand this culturally rich country. But never fear, we have more information for you at our page Anthronauts.com.
Ukraine shares its northern border with Belarus, and to the east is Russia. On the western side, are Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. As you go down to its southern side, you’ll find Moldova, Romania, the Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea. This is also the area where the 2014 Russian-Ukrainian war erupts, in which Russia annexes the Crimea peninsula, and parts of the Donbas territory. Ukraine’s past is filled with drama. Its capital Kiev(Київ) begins as Kievan Rus’ assembled from an association of 9th century Eastern Slavic people who are led by Prince Oleg.
Modern Ukraine declares its independence from the Soviet Union December 1st 1991, securing the defeat of the communist bloc. In 1994, Ukraine joins the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s Partnership for Peace. This NATO alliance soon leads to an intense East-West conflict, which is really a battle between democracy where power originates with We The People, and an autocracy in which one person dictates his will over his subjects. In Ukraine, this continuous conflict expresses itself in the 2004 Orange Revolution where Ukrainian citizens protest a corrupt presidential race. 2014 marks the Euromaidan protest of further government corruption leading to the exile of Ukrainian President Yanukovych to Russia. Now, Ukraine once again fights for its independence against former KGB agent and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. My Ukrainian friend Dmitry further expresses the pain of his beloved country…

”Hi, my name is Dmitry, and I want to tell you about the war in Ukraine, and I can tell you the 24 of February, at 4 O’clock in the morning Russia started to bomb the dock with rockets…from Belorussia and the Russian side. East part, north part, and from the south they started from the military crafts, and we have already big problems, and already killed too much people, but Ukraine, it’s a very powerful country, and our nation is one of the best, and one of the most powerful in the world. And now Ukrainian nation tried to fight every second and every hour. What we want to say is that the whole world must understand this situation, or what is officially shown in Ukraine. This is true, and we hope this war will stop it…”…
