Japanese Ghost Trains running on Joetsu Line
Niigata is very famous for the heavy snowfalls. So people say it is a snow country. In that area, there are a lot of issues to operate trains under such climate conditions.
A ghost train runs ahead of the regular train service to clean the tracks and ice on the overhead wires. In Niigata area ghost trains run on nothern part of Joetsu Line and small part of Shinetsu Main Line called Joetsu Cutter and Shinetsu Cutter.

A direct train to the venue of Tokamachi Snow Festival will run 15 Feb, so that it is probable to operate Joetsu Cutter on the early morning of 15 Feb. Sorry for the wrong information of the embedded text in the video.
