Trying to fully grasp the concept of Overlanding and what Overlanding actually is has been a question we’ve been asked more times than I can count. Overlanding in itself can be described as long-range travel coupled with camping and exploration in whatever vehicle you see fit. The real definition of Overlanding is a little different but along those same lines. I think most people living in this world have some natural curiosity surrounding adventure and travel. Marrying those two words into adventure travel has become more and more popular as our ability to move around freely has become restricted. Overlanding to us is a chance to spend time with our family and friends, while at the same time exploring new parts of this country that we wouldn’t have known existed if Overlanding never became part of our lifestyle. The saying “life is short” has new meaning for us now as we have started to embrace Overlanding and become submerged in the joy that being out in remote destinations with the people you love most has brought to us. Overlanding is many things, it’s travel, exploration, navigation, minimalistic living, disconnection, and complete connection all at the same time. There is no real way to explain it unless you’ve lived it. In this video, I try my best to give the newcomer and the veteran as much important info as I can, while at the same time leaving your imagination open to interpret what this beautiful way of life can truly bring. I hope you enjoy the information and if so please take the time to like this video so we can continue to make memories together one Overlanding adventure at a time.

  1. Audio and lighting seen to be improved since last video. Great job, man. Nice video. 👍

  2. Right on bud, good points.
And I totally agree with you, any body can go over landing on any vehicle but a 4×4 it’s more advisable and if you are going alone definitely get a winch.

  3. You may not use all the gear you bring, but…it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. That being said, we've gone the overbuilt route. I rather my rig be capable to go places I'd never go, the peace of mind it gives me knowing that when we round the bend and come face to face with an "oh s…! obstacle that its not going to kill my rig. Call me paranoid, or prepared. Your call.

  4. Great info! I’m just getting started going “off grid” camping in places other than campgrounds. Planning on trips for the spring and summer in the PNW and I think the most challenging part is knowing what areas to explore, what’s legal, and where to camp. I’d love to see a video series where you show your process in Gaia and everything that goes into your planning.

  5. This deserves to go viral and I really hope a lot of people watch this. You not only provide excellent info but tell it in a great way. When you watch/follow people that overland and dream/plan/then start doing it, you might not get all the warnings/info from their groomed videos like you are providing.

  6. OMG. Man that was the most entertaining and informative video I’ve seen. Man. That bit about camping in cold LMAO! 😂. The. The bit about the motor use aps. 🤣Roll on brother!

  7. Josh, thanks for this and your other video. Just getting started here and actually trying to get smart before we purchase our vehicle. The key issue for us is how to choose between a truck camper arrangment vs a c class RV. I realize most of your viewers are in 4×4. We think an C Class RV may be better for us, but then dont want to get on trails we can't handle.
