⁴ᴷ Ehime: Dogo Onsen Station (愛媛県: 道後温泉駅) – Japan Walking Tour (January, 2025)

I’ve restarted my trip around the various cities of Shikoku, which I had to put off last December. I took the ferry straight from Tokyo to Tokushima, then went through Kōchi Prefecture and arrived in Ehime Prefecture.

The main building of Dōgo Onsen had completed its renovation and looked beautiful. I wanted to take a quick dip in the hot spring, but it seemed too crowded so I decided to pass. I hear that when there are lots of people, it can get ridiculously packed—“like washing potatoes,” as they say.
Also, the red-light district, which had been very quiet during the COVID-19 pandemic, has made a complete comeback. It’s been ages since I’ve seen such a flamboyant array of adult entertainment venues in a hot spring resort. You rarely see them on such a large scale these days.
