[Walking around Japan]Surprisingly interesting Yubari city in Hokkaido
0:00 Japan’s only financially bankrupt city
0:26 charm① Overwhelming ruins
7:14 charm② Abandoned railway tracks of four lines
10:46 charm③ Yubari City mascot character
11:55 charm④ Filming locations and sets of the movie Yellow Handkerchief
12:35 charm⑤ Yubari Coal Museum
16:25 charm⑥ Yubari Shrine. It’s a new town so it doesn’t have much history
16:45 charm⑦ A unique accommodation.
There is also the Yubari Business Hotel, but there are a lot of problems with it, such as the owners living in the lobby in front of the front desk, spider webs, and moldy bathrooms.(I didn’t stay there. This is information from the internet.)
In a way, this inn is a good topic of conversation.
There are about 10 accommodations that have been converted from old houses and can be rented as a whole.

The food did look good.
This was an interesting video. I hope Yubari City can survive in the future.
Are the steam trains still there in the closed "steam locomotive park" or have the trains been moved away? From Google Maps I think I can see one train…or maybe it is a building shaped as a train. I am not sure.
I've read on NHK that there are plans to turn Ebetsu into a Pakistani Islamic ghetto in the near future, It'd be cool to get some footage of it now so we can compare it in 20 or 30 years.
So sad to see. My wife was telling me that this entire area has been bought out by China as well. I'm not sure if she's right or not but I wonder why they want it?
