  1. Great video. Very thorough. We recently moved to Plovdiv and are loving it. One point of clarification: while Bulgaria is indeed losing people, they are doing so from the rural areas. The population of the larger cities here–like Sofia–is actually increasing ever so slightly.

  2. A very neat, sincere and truthtfull discription of Bulgaria for as far as I know about this wonderful country.

  3. Hi Olga, this is a great content! Please make a video about health insurance coverage and cost for chronic illness in Bulgaria❤

  4. Bulgaria is a good country if you look globaly :

-Easy to become real estate owner (compare to 85% of the OECD countries)
-Low taxes, easy business with Europe
-Low salary ? yes and no (remote work, call center). Also if you create a company, you will be competitive.
    -Also, prices are cheap.
-Not too much wokes, migration and insecurity problems (for the moment but with the UE ….)
-Not to many regulation, easy to deal with administration compare to many countries

What other country in Europe could you provide better ? Yes maybe on some points yes, in Italy you can find cheap real estate, yes you can get better salary in Nederlands (but what about the real estate and taxes ?), yes there are countries with lower taxes like Dubai or Andorra (but does those countries want you to come ?)

    ….

I won't writer a statement, but sincerely Bulgaria is a good compromise for the average medium class people. You could find better but it will not offer a such good mix of advantage.

An ancient expat in Bulgaria, 2 years.

  5. Прожил в Софя 2 года – хорошо ратио цена жить работа свобода безопосность

  6. If you work remotely Plovdiv is a better choice than Sofia. You will get used to the heat. This is how it should be during the summer. The only reason why people prefer Sofia is the better salaries.

  8. Another great video. Thank you!

    I'm curious about 2 things:
1- why Sofia and not Varna or Burgas (besides the infrastructure)?
2- why Bulgaria and not Romania? 😁

  9. Wow such a title . Very untruthful. Lots of people are actually moving in . Why are you moving if you have this attitude?!

  10. Everybody is leaving!? Who told you this. This is rather offensive. BULGARIANS LEAVE for Europe to work, travel and study. They invest in Bg and come back. ❤

  11. actualy,verry good video.Yes this summer was brutal hot,hottest i have seen in 50 years.Come spring ,or autumn here.Healt and happynes,from Plovdiv 🙂

  12. Great overview! Also important to know for US, Canada, Germany, Israel and other western pensioners that Bulgaria does not tax any types of pensions (Social Security, 401K, company's and government pensions and VA benefits) and there is a double-taxation treaty with US in place to handle other types of foreign earned income. Completely agree with recommendations of choosing place to live in Bulgaria for different categories of expats. If you are retirees look at Bulgarian riviera (Varna and Burgas, specifically, if you like combination of a mild Mediterranean climate, beautiful beaches and natural hot water mineral springs or healing mud – look at Varna's suburb called Saints Constantine and Helena, or at Burgas' suburb called Pomorie). For the best healthcare options and convenient direct flights look at Sofia, for the best skiing look at Bansko, for cultural experience look at Plovdiv or Veliko Tarnovo. All those cities are very safe and have plenty of expats

  13. 2022 was the year in which the number of emigrants from Bulgaria equaled the number of repatriates + immigrants. Bulgarians are gradually but steadily returning to Bulgaria.

  14. most people, not "everyone". everyone is leaving Ukraine or North Korea ( ok they can't but…), the whole stoic pseudo-greek nihilism of bulgaria and the typical bulgarian mood "suspiaha ia taia durjava" (they destroyed the country) was a thing 10 or 20 years ago, these days i find it very difficult to find a place that tempts me. Maybe Italy or even less: Japan. Everything else? No.

  15. I moved here from UK 11 years ago and raise a family here I think it is one of greatest countries in the world and my wife is from china and she feels the same. Bulgarian do not realise though so many problems in UK.

  16. rude and disrespectful title. There are still 6.5 mln people in the country and 99% are not wiling to leave it.

  17. The reality is that we're below 6 million even now. The figure that circulates around is 5.5 million. In 2024 the government stopped the service which was calculating the annual birth/death rates and was determining by how much people the nation is shrinking. Presumably because the number was staggering, and is a direct consequence of their ineptitude and downright criminal policies.

  18. I'm spending a month in Sofia this summer, I had to choose between Sofia and Bucharest and chose Sofia mainly because of the green spaces and the Vitosha mountains nearby. As you mentioned, I also found according to my research that the summers are much milder in Sofia compared to some other places in Europe which are sweltering.

  19. I personally found Sofia compare to other Europian cities extremely ugly with terrible infrastructure. Roads everywhere filled with potholes, disscusting soviet brutalist architecture etc. Worth to visit but living there must be a hell. But if someone is living off high western EU income working remotaly, this person must feel like a KING in Bulgaria. Unfortunatelly, it's not the local people.

  20. I've been to Sofia, but honestly I was disappointed, didn't like it, grey city, grumpy people, polluted… not a big fan.
