前日に秋田駅周辺のホテルに宿泊し、翌日の朝に出発。秋田駅から男鹿線「なまはげライン」にて男鹿を目指しました。
男鹿駅からは事前予約をしていた「なまはげシャトルバス」に乗ってなまはげ館に向かいました。なまはげ館に到着後、まずはお隣の「男鹿真山伝承館」へ。こちらでは毎年大晦日に行われるナマハゲ行事を再現し、体験することができます。
迫力のあるナマハゲ行事を、時には恐れ、時には笑いながら楽しむことができました。そしてこの行事によって、子供たちが自然や神への畏怖の気持ちや怠情を戒める大切さを学ぶことができることがよく分かりました。
お隣のなまはげ館では、男鹿にある約60地区のナマハゲのお面や衣装が展示されています。実際にナマハゲのお面や衣装を借りて、ナマハゲになりきって記念撮影ができるスポットもあります。

I stayed at a hotel near Akita Station the night before and left the next morning.
From Akita Station, I headed for Oga on the Oga Line “Namahage Line”.
From Oga Station, I took the “Namahage Shuttle Bus” that I had reserved in advance and
headed to the Namahage Museum. After arriving at the Namahage Museum, I first went to
the neighboring “Oga Shinzan Denshoukan”. Here, you can experience the Namahage
event that is held every year on New Year’s Eve.
I was able to enjoy the powerful Namahage event, sometimes afraid and sometimes laughing.
And I realized that this event teaches children the importance of fear of nature and gods and of discouraging laziness.
At the Namahage Museum next door, Namahage masks and costumes from about 60 districts in Oga are on display. There is also a spot where you can actually borrow Namahage masks and costumes and take commemorative photos while pretending to be Namahage.
