The Naoshima Islands are a group of 27 islands located in the Seto Inland Sea, mainly located in Kagawa Prefecture.

Last year, I introduced the northern part of the islands. This time I would like to introduce the southern part of the islands.
In the blessed sea, we carry out fishing using fishing boats using set nets, and aquaculture of mainly yellowtail, flounder, and amberjack, and we rank high in Kagawa Prefecture in terms of production volume and production value.
Now, let’s take a look at the southern islands of the Naoshima Islands from south to north. This is Mukaejima, an inhabited island.
Next is Ejima. There are ruins of salt fields that lasted from 1870 to 1955. With the closure of the salt fields, the island became uninhabited.
This is Tsubonejima, an uninhabited island. What you can see in the distance is the uninhabited island of Kyonojoroujima. It is said that both islands were once used for quarrying.

    昨年は諸島北部を紹介させていただきました。今回は諸島南部を紹介させていただきます。
    恵まれた海で、建網等の漁船漁業と、ハマチを中心としヒラメ、カンパチ等の養殖を行っており香川県では生産量、生産額とも上位にランクしています。
    直島諸島南部の島を南から北へ見ていきましょう。ここは有人島の向島（むかえじま）です。
    次に家島（えじま）です。1870年から1955年代まで続いた塩田跡地があります。塩田の廃止に伴い無人島になりました。
    ここは無人島の局島（つぼねじま）です。その先に見えるのが無人島の京ノ上臈島（きょうのじょうろうじま）です。どちらの島もかつては採石をしていたそうです。
