Today we leave the spectacular Chiang Mai city and head 1 hour north to the region of Chiang Dao.
Chiang Dao (still within Chiang Mai Province) is home to Thailand’s 3rd highest mountain, however it is by far the 1st in terms of outstanding natural beauty and wonder.
First we visit a very responsibly run cafe that homes elephants that hang out by the river adjacent to the cafe itself. The cafe’s elephants are actually from the elephant sanctuary next door and the whole business is run with the elephants best interests at heart, for those looking for a very intimate and cheaper way to visit elephants in Thailand I recommend this place.
Then we head further north to the base of Chiang Dao itself to enjoy one of the countries most spectacular and unique accommodations.

Wonderful to see this video today. I saved it for the right moment while I was done with the Saturday morning chores and my papers for the week. I love that area too Paddy.
