台湾で大きな間違いを犯しました…🇹🇼
Last episode we started our EPIC train-trip around the whole island of Taiwan, in Taipei, exploring it’s vibey food (and shopping!) scene. Followed by a high speed rail trip to Taichung where we ate arguably one of the most ridiculous ice cream sundays we’ve ever had! In this episode, we will continue our trip from Taichung to Chiayi, but not without some drama… We make a pretty bad mistake and end up in a world of stress with the trains… let’s just say it doesn’t quite go to plan. Will we ever make it to Tainan?

Learn from mistakes! Always check if your destination is near a local or express train station before departure.

Highly recommend ‘’Alishan National Scenic Area‘’ in Jiayi to you. Alishan is a renowned mountain resort in Chiayi County, Taiwan, famous for its misty forests, stunning sunrises, and cherry blossoms.
You may ask anyone where ever you need help and let them know your plans and they will be delighted to tell you whatever you need to know. Also please check on the internet before your plans, because they are many apps you can utilize and save lots of time and money. Taiwan is not big but some of the design needs some improvement.
In Taiwan, you can also explore, the medical system can be used, and the cost is acceptable. Taiwan maintains respect for religion, basically safe to participate, this is just a cultural manifestation of the tropical environment to develop a relatively diverse approach, please enjoy the tour. Thanks for your hard work (DeepL translation)

Chia-Yi Red Cypress Village is a cultural site for visitor, it was the dormitory area for who worked for Alishan lumber industry in the past. If you have time, can visit Alishan which is a beautiful mountain with a lot of big trees (standing for hundreds/ thousands years).
The mis-conception is the traslation of train terminology, the non-reserved in Taiwan Railway Co. is the local trains which will not go to different zone (at least 5 zones). Chiayi is just the end of zone so you guys can hop in for destination. Non-reserved and reserved is on the same train but car number between 1-8 and 9-12 with THSR. The most important and interesting railway tour is Taiwan Railway Co. does provide around the island tourist trains that can be off and on along the same direction around the island. Tourists can check with the ticket information for packages for these trains. The trains are nicely equiped and comfortable for tourists.
By the way, there are three so-called the hub of train system in Taiwan. Banchiao, Taichung and Kaohsiung has the hub system that serves as the heart with MRT, TaiRail and HSR under the same roof. You can switch from each to the other systems to go pass the cities or into the down town fo the city. Taiwan has six urban cities along the west bank of the island in total. Unfortunately, only three of them has the hub system design. Mor are coming in the future.
You guys has bumped into one of those local festival which normally organizes around a Taoism temple. However the one you guys were in looked much bigger. So my guesses is a bigger venue that links all or most of them. That’s why it’s set up around a whole area as for many stages. Thats because those performance were meant to entertain god and goddesses. That’s why they are loud and various types. Cater for all 😊 of course local can enjoy too. Religion activities had big influence in Taiwan calendar and big topics too if anyone is interested look it up. Taoism and Buddhism somehow fused and embedded into daily life.😊
Taiwan high speed rail is different from Taiwan local train , the route of high speed rail is designed to avoid the old city center, and advocate new modern cities built next to the high speed rail system, and to avoid too crowded in the old train station 😂
You can just go to the ticket booth asking for the quickest train to ur destination, most of them can speak English and really helpful. You can save a lot of time comparing figure it out by urself. BTW, I really enjoy watching ur video and like ur positive attitude.
Yeah, your train out of Taichung was a "local" commuter train. Stops at all the stations. No reserved seating. If they are full (like during rush hour) you will likely be standing the whole way. If you are traveling between major cities, always take the "reserved" trains. They only stop at the major stations, have reserved seats, are faster and much more comfortable.
The egg roll was filled with taro ice cream.
I'm a long-time resident of Tainan. When I heard you talking about taking the HSR from Chiayi to Tainan, I'm going "Noooooooo!" Like Chiayi, the Tainan HSR station is waaaaay outside of the city. It really only makes sense to take the HSR if you are travelling long distances. For shorter trips, the standard Taiwan Rail trains are the better option. They use the stations in the city center. Good thing you figured that out before coming to Tainan, otherwise you would have had another long taxi ride (or local train) once you got here. Regarding all the loud festivities you saw, yeah, this whole past month in Tainan, there has been a giant Taoist festival. They have these little celebrations at individual temples all the time, but this big one this past month has been all over the city, and only happens every few years (I think maybe every 12 years). I even got invited by my Taichi teacher to one of the street banquets next to one of these temples a couple weeks ago. Your timing was excellent to get a huge dose of Tainan culture this month. If those fireworks bothered you, you definitely do NOT want to check out the Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival on the outskirts of Tainan during Lantern Festival (usually in February). That is an "other-worldly" experience that is not for the faint of heart. Google it. It's insane. It's like walking into a war zone. You need to be prepared.
how funny today's travel, nice enjoy to tainan temple fair celebration😊good night
Your journey is too hasty to enjoy the specialties of every region
Fun🎉
