Japanese hospitality is on another level. I couldn't believe that the host actually meets you at the elevator to guide you to your dinner and they are there to warmly see you off at the end of your stay.
I stayed at this ryokan in August, in the Bizen room. The exact same room that you got!
Although it can be a bit uncomfortable with the open air bath, it is a very nice place

I find Japanese culture interesting in that people are educated to be super conscious of social behavior (not to impose on others), yet non-conscious of nudity (regards behavior in onsen); this is directly opposite of Chinese/Koreans.

Now this waterside facility is marvelous above words. It's like being on a boat. I would love to sit in the bath as the sun was setting, even if you don't have that view. The mineral water dispenser is something I have never seen a hotel room. The food was varied and interesting, with the breakfast buffet the best! THe entire stay was well worth the flight.
Can someone tell me why showing tattoos seems to me to be almost forbidden to show them in Japan? I don't have any but I'm curious. Are they considered "ugly" or something?
