いつもご視聴ありがとうございます。本日は、福岡県篠栗町にある南蔵院をご紹介します。南蔵院は、日本全国から参拝者が訪れる人気のパワースポットであり、その象徴となっているのが、世界最大級のブロンズ製「釈迦涅槃像」です。全長41メートル、高さ11メートルという巨大な涅槃像は、その圧倒的な存在感で訪れる人々に感動を与えます。内部参拝も可能で、護摩木を奉納することで、四国八十八箇所をお参りする「お砂踏み」の体験ができます。参拝中、撮影は禁止されていますが、仏教の教えやその深い意味を感じ取ることができる貴重な時間です。
南蔵院には他にも多くの見どころがあります。まず境内には「大不動明王」がお祀りされており、力強い姿で参拝者を見守っています。また「五百羅漢」の像や「七福神トンネル」といった独特なスポットもあり、参拝するたびに新しい発見があります。「大黒堂」は宝くじのパワースポットとしても有名で、多くの参拝者がここで金運上昇や出世を祈願しています。

南蔵院のもう一つの特筆すべき場所は「南天稲荷神社」です。この神社は、五穀豊穣を祈願する場所として、古くから農業関係者に信仰されてきました。境内には108段の階段が整備されており、参拝者はその階段を登りながら静かな祈りの時間を過ごします。
そして、南蔵院を訪れる際には、ぜひ「仏足」もご覧ください。仏足はお釈迦様の足跡を石に刻んだもので、インドの初期仏教において仏像を作ることが恐れ多いとされていた時代に、足の裏の相を石に刻むことで敬意を表していたものです。この足跡は、仏教の尊い教えと慈悲の心を象徴しています。
最後に、南蔵院の本堂や奥の院も訪れるべき場所です。高野山別格本山である南蔵院の本堂には、阿弥陀如来や釈迦如来が祀られており、日々祈願や供養が行われています。奥の院には不動明王が祀られており、隣接する霊水窟では清らかな山の湧水を飲むことができます。篠栗霊場発祥の地としても知られ、霊水は訪れる人々に清らかな心と体をもたらします。

Thank you for watching as always. Today, we are introducing Nanzoin, a renowned Buddhist temple located in Sasaguri Town, Fukuoka Prefecture. Nanzoin is famous nationwide as a powerful spiritual spot, attracting many visitors, with its iconic “Reclining Buddha” statue, one of the largest bronze reclining Buddha statues in the world. The statue, measuring 41 meters in length and 11 meters in height, impresses all who visit. Visitors can also enter the statue and participate in a unique pilgrimage experience by offering a gomagi, a sacred wooden tablet, during the “Osuna-fumi,” a symbolic pilgrimage to the 88 temples of Shikoku. While photography is prohibited inside, this spiritual journey allows visitors to deeply appreciate the teachings of Buddhism.
Beyond the Reclining Buddha, Nanzoin offers numerous attractions. The temple grounds feature the powerful “Great Fudo Myo-o,” a deity that protects visitors with his imposing presence. Visitors can also explore the “500 Arhats” statues and the “Seven Lucky Gods Tunnel,” each adding to the rich spiritual experience of Nanzoin. The temple’s “Daikoku Hall” is famous for being a power spot for good fortune, particularly for lottery wins. Many visitors come here to pray for financial success and career advancement.
Another unique aspect of Nanzoin is its stamp offering site, the “Seal Tower,” where old personal seals are ritually honored and disposed of. These seals, often used as important personal or corporate identification in Japan, are carefully retired to prevent misuse, while also showing gratitude for their service. The temple offers a sacred space to dispose of these significant items with respect and care.
Nanzoin also includes a shrine within its grounds called “Nanten Inari Shrine.” This shrine has been a place of worship for those involved in agriculture, praying for bountiful harvests. Visitors can climb the 108 stone steps leading to the shrine, allowing for a peaceful moment of reflection during their visit.
One more fascinating feature of Nanzoin is the “Buddha’s Footprint,” a stone carving representing the Buddha’s foot. In early Buddhism, creating statues of the Buddha was considered too sacred, so devotees instead worshiped these carved footprints, believed to carry the Buddha’s teachings and compassion.
Finally, Nanzoin’s Main Hall and Oku-no-in (inner sanctuary) are essential stops for visitors. The main hall houses the statues of Amida Nyorai and Shaka Nyorai, where daily prayers and rituals are conducted. At the Oku-no-in, Fudo Myo-o is enshrined, and visitors can drink pure mountain water from the nearby sacred spring. This spring is said to cleanse both the body and soul, offering spiritual purification. The site is also known as the birthplace of the Sasaguri pilgrimage route.
Nanzoin is easily accessible, located just 30 minutes by car from downtown Fukuoka, or a 3-minute walk from JR Kido Nanzoin-mae Station on the Sasaguri Line. Free parking is available, making it convenient for visitors traveling by car.
