It is the largest island in Okayama Prefecture, with mountainous terrain and untouched nature, and many wild deer inhabit the island.
Kakuijima Island is about 800 meters from Honshu, facing each other across a narrow strait called “Uchiwada no Seto”.
This mountain is in Honshu(the main island). Kakuijima Island can be seen beyond the Uchiwada Seto.
The large island visible beyond Kakui Island is Shodoshima island in Kagawa Prefecture.
In the 17th century, during the Edo period, deer hunting was carried out by the Ikeda clan, the lord of the Okayama domain.
As an uninhabited island, it was used as a place for hunting and forestry, but hunting was prohibited in 1770, and after that it was used as a forest for the domain.
This is a peninsula on the opposite shore of Kakuijima Island. This ridge is the prefectural border between Okayama and Hyogo prefectures. The sunny side is Hyogo Prefecture, and the shaded side is Okayama Prefecture.
The Ieshima Islands can be seen in the distance. The Ieshima Islands are located approximately 18 km off the coast of Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture.

岡山県内最大の島で、山がちの地形で手付かずの自然が残り、島内には野生の鹿が多く生息しています。
鹿久居島は本州から約800mの距離で「うちわだの瀬戸」と呼ばれている狭い海峡を挟んで向き合っています。
この山は本州です。うちわだの瀬戸の向こうに見えるのが鹿久居島です。 鹿久居島の先に見える大きい島は香川県の小豆島（しょうどしま）です。
17世紀、江戸時代には、岡山藩主の池田氏によってに鹿狩が行われていたそうです。
無人島として狩や林産の場でしたが、1770年に禁猟になり、その後は藩の御林とされたそうです。
鹿久居島の対岸の半島の尾根が岡山県と兵庫県の県境です。陽の当たっている方が兵庫県で陰になっている方が岡山県です。
遠くに家島諸島が見えます。家島諸島は兵庫県姫路市から沖合い約18kmにある島々です。
2015年に本州と鹿久居島を結ぶ備前♡日生大橋が開通しました。次回は備前♡日生大橋を紹介させていただきます。
