【紅葉2024】ぶらり旅 第480回「奈良県:室生寺」-国宝,アクセス,駐車場,奈良大和四寺巡礼,見頃,関西,奥の院- Muroji Temple,Nara,Japan
ふらっと出かけた場所を紹介しようと思います。
2024年11月に奈良県宇陀市にある「室生寺」に行きました。
・室生寺
奈良時代末、東宮(のちの桓武帝)の病気平癒を願った興福寺の僧賢憬(賢璟)が創建。
現在の寺観を整えたのは賢憬の弟子修円といわれる。
その後、一時衰退したが、江戸時代元禄年間に5代将軍徳川綱吉の生母桂昌院の庇護を受け再興された。
このころから、同じ真言宗で女人禁制だった高野山金剛峰寺に対し、室生寺は女人の参詣を許可。
そのため女人高野と呼ばれ、女性の信仰を集めた。
境内には柿葺きの金堂(国宝)や弥勒堂(重要文化財)、檜皮葺きの本堂(国宝)などが散在。
金堂には、本尊釈迦如来立像(国宝)をはじめ、十一面観音立像(国宝)など木造の貞観仏5体が安置されている。
屋外に立つ古塔としてはわが国最小の五重塔(国宝)(高さ16m)。
塔の左の道を登ると御影堂(重要文化財)のある奥の院がある。
拝観料：大人（中学生以上）…600円、小学生…400円
I’d like to introduce some places I went to on a whim.
In November 2024, I went to Muroji Temple in Uda City, Nara Prefecture.
・Muro-ji Temple
Founded at the end of the Nara period by the monk Kenkei (Kenkei) of Kofuku-ji Temple, who prayed for the recovery of the Crown Prince (later Emperor Kanmu) from illness.
It is said that Kenkei’s disciple Shuen arranged the current temple structure.
After that, it fell into a temporary decline, but was restored during the Genroku period of the Edo period under the patronage of Keishoin, the mother of the 5th Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
From this time on, Muroji Temple allowed women to visit, unlike Kongobu-ji Temple on Mount Koya, which was also a Shingon sect temple but was off-limits to women.
As a result, it was called Women’s Koya and attracted the faith of women.
The grounds are dotted with the persimmon-roofed Kondo Hall (National Treasure), the Maitreya Hall (Important Cultural Property), and the cypress-bark-roofed Main Hall (National Treasure).
The Kondo Hall houses five wooden Jogan Buddha statues, including the principal image, a standing Shaka Nyorai statue (national treasure), and an eleven-headed Kannon standing statue (national treasure).
The five-story pagoda (national treasure) (height 16m) is the smallest outdoor ancient pagoda in Japan.
Climbing the path to the left of the pagoda leads to the inner sanctuary, which contains the Goeido Hall (important cultural property).
Admission fee: Adults (junior high school students and above)… 600 yen, elementary school students… 400 yen
