サケの遡上 暑寒別川河口 Salmon’s going upstream at Shokanbetsu River
北海道の石狩湾の北方向にある暑寒別岳から日本海に流れる暑寒別川には毎年9月中旬から10月中旬にかけてサケやサクラマスが遡上してくる。札幌からは車で市内中心部創成川通りを北上し国道231号線に入り、石狩市を日本海沿いを北へ2時間半ほど走ると暑寒別川河口近くの暑寒別橋から遡上する様子を間近で観ることができる。但し暑寒別川は北海道が指定した「保護水面」で、水産動物の資源を保護する河川となっている為、遡上してきたサケやマスの捕獲は厳しく禁じられている。
Every year from mid-September to mid-October, salmon and trout swim upstream in the Shokanbetsu River in Mashike Town, Hokkaido. They can be viewed from Shokanbetsu Bridge near the mouth of the river. It is about a 2.5 hour drive from Sapporo. It is prohibited by law to catch salmon and trout that swim upstream in the Shokanbetsu River.
