妙義山は、赤城山、榛名山とともに上毛三山に数えられ、群馬を代表する山の１つです。また、日本三大奇勝の１つとして荒々しい岩肌が創り出す自然景観の美しさが特徴です。
妙義山は、いくつもの峰々の総称で、金洞山、白雲山、金鶏山を通称「表妙義」と言い、谷急山、丁須の頭、御岳等を通称「裏妙義」と呼んでいます。
妙義山の標高は、白雲山相馬岳の1,104ｍが最高峰で、金洞山東岳が1,094ｍです。標高は、高くないですが関東平野を見下ろす景色はとても爽快です。
Mount Myogi is one of the three mountains of Jomo along with Mount Akagi and Mount Haruna, and is one of Gunma’s most famous mountains. It is also one of Japan’s three most scenic spots, characterized by the beauty of the natural scenery created by its rugged rock faces.
Mount Myogi is the collective name for several peaks, with Mount Kinto, Mount Hakuun, and Mount Kinkei commonly referred to as “Omote Myogi,” while Mount Tanikyu, Mount Chosunoto, Mount Mitake, etc. are commonly known as “Ura Myogi.”
The highest peak of Mount Myogi is Mount Hakuun’s Soumadake at 1,104m, and Mount Kinto’s Higashidake at 1,094m. Although the altitude is not high, the view overlooking the Kanto Plain is very refreshing.
