花巻まつりは、文禄2年(1593年)、花巻開町の祖・北松斎を敬い、町の人々が山車を作り、町を練り歩いたのが始まりと言われています。世界一の神輿パレードとして名高い、100基以上の神輿が一同に会する様子は必見。
The Hanamaki Festival is said to have begun in 1593, when the townspeople built floats and paraded them through the town in honor of Kitamatsusai, the founder of Hanamaki. Renowned as the world’s largest portable shrine parade, the gathering of more than 100 portable shrines is a must-see.
