【静岡／遠江国一宮】小国神社／遠州の小京都に鎮座する一宮 – Oguni shrine in SHIZUOKA, JAPAN / The first shrine in Omi Province
小國神社は、静岡県周智郡にある遠江国一宮。
本宮山の南側の山麓に鎮座し、御祭神は大己貴命（おおなむちのみこと）。
大己貴命は、出雲大社の御祭神である大国主命（おおくにぬしのみこと）の別名である。
創建は欽明天皇16年（555年）、勅命により本宮山に社殿が造営されたことに始まる。
約30万坪（東京ドームの建物21個分）の神域には、清浄な鎮守の森が生い茂る。
小國神社は、皇族や武将の信仰が篤く、遠江国一宮として崇敬を受けてきた。
中世以降、朝廷の衰退により勅使が廃れたが、祭祀が途断えることはなかった。
天正3年（1575年）、徳川家康が社殿を再建し、江戸時代に入ってからも歴代将軍が社殿の造営、社領の寄進を行ってきた。
2020年から4年間にわたって社殿の屋根の改修事業が行われた。
この工事は「令和のお屋根替え」と呼ばれ、2023年10月末に全ての修繕が完了した。
小國神社のある森町は、遠州の小京都と呼ばれ、四季折々の風景が美しい。

Oguni Shrine is the first shrine in the province of Totomi Province, located in Shuchi-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture.
It is located at the southern foot of Mt. Hongu, and its deity is Ohonamuchi no Mikoto.
Ohonamuchi no Mikoto is another name for Okuninushi no Mikoto, the deity of Izumo-taisha Shrine.
The shrine was founded in 555, when a shrine building was constructed on Mt. Hongu by imperial order.
A pure, sacred forest grows in the sacred grounds, covering an area of about 300,000 square meters (the size of 21 Tokyo Dome buildings).
Oguni Shrine has been revered as the first shrine in the province of Totomi by the imperial family and military commanders.
After the Middle Ages, when the Imperial Court declined and the Imperial envoys ceased to exist, the shrine’s rituals did not cease.
In 1575, Tokugawa Ieyasu rebuilt the shrine, and even after the Edo period, successive shoguns continued to build shrine buildings and donate land to the shrine.
A four-year renovation project was carried out on the roof of the shrine from 2020.
This project was called the “The roof replacement of Reiwa” and all repairs were completed at the end of October 2023.
Morimachi, where Oguni Shrine is located, is called the Little Kyoto of Enshu and has beautiful scenery in every season.
