Mount Tsurugi – Hiking the old pilgrim trail (4K) | 剣山 コリトリ登山道 旧表参道

In this video, my friend and I take you on a hiking adventure up Mount Tsurugi (1,955 metres / 6,414 ft), located in Tokushima Prefecture, Shikoku Island, just south of the Seto Inland Sea. Our route starts at Koritori, and rises steeply up the mountain, taking around 4 hours to reach the peak. This route is the old pilgrim’s trail which was probably the first route ever taken to the peak, when mountain climbing was a spiritual act, rather than a leisurely one.
