We start the day at our hotel the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat and get a taxi to Yangshuo Railway Station. This takes about an hour as Yangshuo train station is the other side of Xingping.

At the train station we wait for our train that will take us to Guilin. Matthew is still pretty ill from the food poisoning he picked up the day before.

Our train from Yangshuo to Guilin takes around 30 minutes and then we wait for our direct train that will take us all the way from Guilin to Hong Kong.

We stock up on supplies at the train station, drinks, snacks, etc. and get on our train.

Today we would be travelling in second class on the G319 for the 3 hour plus journey from Guilin to Hong Kong. Along the way we would be travelling past some beautiful scenery and making stops at a number of stations including Guangzhou and Shenzen before finally arriving in Hong Kong at Kowloon West Train Station.

At Hong Kong we had to go through immigration before catching a taxi to our hotel.

Tonight we were staying at The Salisbury – YMCA Hong Kong, the hotel is in a perfect location in Tsim Sha Tsui next to the Peninsula with perfect views over Victoria harbour and the Hong Kong Skyline. Our room was a Harbour View King Suite so we had two rooms and a huge floor to ceiling window to admire the view.

As Matthew was still ill me and Holly went out to get something to eat at a nearby Roast Goose Restaurant and walked along the harbour.

We got some snacks for Matthew and went back to the room. from here we could watch the Symphony of Lights, a nightly light show in Hong Kong Harbour, we could even get the music in our room using an app.

  1. Today was a really difficult day, I would have liked to stay in Yangshuo for another couple of days to let Matthew rest but that was impossible. On any other day this would have been an amazing journey travelling through the beautiful Chinese countryside on a high speed Chinese train. I have written a FREE China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more, you can download it here: https://bit.ly/4d8D23t

  2. @31:20 – you don't get good value because it's "dated" in Hong Kong 😂 – YMCA has a lot to do with it – that's a 5 star room in many cities even without the views –

  3. 看了带有中文字幕的视频后,得知马修病了。为此我们也很担心,希望他早点好起来。加油

  4. I am sorry Mathew had food poisoning in Yangshuo. Thankfully, you have a great perspective in enduring many trails and tribulations such as this. I am glad you found the YMCA hotel in HK to rest up ,and enjoyed the skyline of HK Victoria harbour.

  5. Hopefully Matthew gets a speedy recovery. As for the train, there might be more options from Yangshuo to Guangzhou and then to Hong Kong.

  6. 伟大的父亲,中国有一句谚语读万卷书不如行万里路,让有机会出来看看不同的世界比只从书包上了解的知识更好

  7. What an coincidence…I had a very bad diarrhea when I went to yangshuo for the first time too😮 It was like 20 yrs ago

  8. Why'd you want to book premium when it's just a very short journey from Yangshuo to Guilin? I can see there doesn't seem to be anyone in that class, a waste of money in my opinion. I don't think for such a short journey, it'll make a huge difference to making your son feel more comfortable being in premium. Worse of all, you paid for premium but sat in economy! 🤣

  10. I dont know when this video was taken, but I was in Guilin and Yangshou 3 days ago… the entire family got food poisoning as well, in fact my stomach still feel pretty bad. I don't know what happend because we all ate at the hotel… Interestingly we didnt get food poisoning sympton until we got to Shanghai. However Yangshou was awesom, I rented one of those 3 seater scooters and rode everywhere. It was soo much fun and the view were fatastic ! I will differently visit again!

  11. Welcome to Hong Kong again
You know HK is running West(UK) System
Hong Kong price is higher of China because the HKMA guarantees to exchange US dollars into Hong Kong dollars, or vice versa, at the rate of 7.80.

  12. Actually you don't have to guess where your carriage is. There are signs on the ground with different colours. You just need to know which colour of signs is for your train and then find the number.

  13. I love your videos, and I care about what happened to you. I suggest you go to the hospital emergency in the next city, they will treat your child soon, the best part is you do not have to wait for a long time, I hope you are well!

    😊

  16. It’s hard to imagine that almost everything sold in Hong Kong comes from mainland China, yet the prices are several times, or even dozens of times higher than in mainland China.😅

  17. so convenient to take bullet train, instead of flight! no delay, and directly get off city center, no travel from airport, that is amazing
