⁴ᴷ Tokyo: Aomonoyokocho Station (東京都: 青物横丁駅) – Japan Walking Tour (November, 2024)

I’ve been working hard to upgrade both my camera and audio equipment, which caused a delay in my uploads. Now that the settings are more stable, I’ll be back to regular posting this week.
This time, I’m at Aomonoyokocho Station, the neighboring stop to Shin-Bamba on the Keikyu Main Line. It’s interesting that Keikyu (Keihin Electric Express Railway) originally started as a line connecting Kawasaki Daishi Temple and Kawasaki Station. Many of the railways around the Kanto area opened to provide access to popular temples and shrines, showing how significant these destinations were. Aomonoyokocho Station also has a long history, having opened in 1904, giving it over 120 years of history. The station name, “Aomono” (literally “green produce”), originates from the Edo period when farmers would bring their vegetables and mountain greens to sell at a market here. The old Tokaido Road also runs nearby, adding another layer of history to this area.
