🔷柏村稲荷神社の由来

古来、この辺りには旧大和川が流れていました。しかし、度重なる洪水によって、付近の人々は大きな災害を受け続けました。当時、川筋にあたる今米の庄屋であった中甚兵衛親子二代は、50年間にわたり幕府に訴え続け、遂に許可を得て現在の大和川に付け替えられたのが、宝永元年（1704年）のことです。

その後、旧川の川床や沼地を3年がかりで開墾し、24町歩余りの新田を開いたのが大田村の柏原仁兵衛芳次でした。彼の功績を偲び、この新田は「柏村新田」と称されました。起工を決意した仁兵衛は、直ちに伏見稲荷神社に詣でて御分霊を勧請し、この地に奉祀しました。

工事の完工はもちろん、住民の家内安全や五穀豊穣を祈願し、別名「白姫神社」とも称されるようになりました。祭神は「倉稲魂神」といい、柏村の鎮守社として崇敬されています。

🔸宇迦之御魂神（倉稲魂神・稲荷神）

「日本書紀」では倉稲魂神（うかのみたまのみこと）と記されています。

「ウカ」とは穀物・食物という意味で、五穀豊穣を司る穀物神です。

🔷柏村新田

玉串川、すなわち旧大和川の川床地で、宝永元年（1704年）に大和川付け替え後、太田の柏原仁兵衛が開墾した場所です。苗字の1字を取って「柏村新田」と称されました。総反別は20町4反9畝でした。

鎮守稲荷神社がその名残をとどめています。

金光中・高等学校を越えたあたりの脇道を東へすぐ

🔷 Origin of Kashiwamura Inari Shrine

In ancient times, the old Yamato River flowed through this area. However, repeated flooding caused severe damage to the local residents. During this period, the Nakajinbei family, who were village leaders of Imakome and situated along the river, petitioned the Shogunate for 50 years. They finally obtained permission to redirect the river to its current course in the first year of the Hoei era (1704).

Afterward, Kashiwabara Jinbei Yoshitsugu of Ota Village spent three years cultivating the riverbed and marshlands of the old river, creating over 24 *cho* (approximately 24 hectares) of new farmland. To honor his achievements, this newly reclaimed land was named “Kashiwamura Shinden.” Determined to begin the project, Jinbei immediately made a pilgrimage to Fushimi Inari Shrine, enshrining a divided spirit of the deity at this site.

Along with the completion of the project, the shrine also became a place to pray for the safety of the residents and abundant harvests, gaining the alternate name “Shirahime Shrine.” The enshrined deity, known as “Ukanomitama-no-Kami,” has been revered as the guardian deity of Kashiwamura.

🔸 Ukanomitama-no-Kami (Kuraokami-no-Mikoto/Inari-no-Kami)

In the *Nihon Shoki* (Chronicles of Japan), this deity is referred to as Kuraokami-no-Mikoto (Ukanomitama-no-Mikoto). The term “Uka” means grains or food, making this deity the god of agriculture and the bountiful harvest of grains.

🔷 Kashiwamura Shinden

Kashiwamura Shinden was the area reclaimed by Kashiwabara Jinbei after the redirection of the Yamato River in the first year of the Hoei era (1704). The site was located on the old riverbed of the Yamato River, now the Tamagushi River. Taking one character from his surname, the area was named “Kashiwamura Shinden.” The total area measured 20 *cho* 4 *tan* 9 *se* (approximately 20 hectares).

Today, the Inari Shrine remains as a reminder of this historical land.

**Access:** About a 10-minute walk from Kintetsu “Takayasu” Station. Walk south along the Tamagushi River west of Kintetsu “Takayasu” Station, and head east along the side road just past Konko Middle and High School.
