I had only been to Beppu in Oita, where steam rised everywhere. But the area around Oita Station is completely different!
The ceiling at Oita Station was very unique. The design, which looked like a wooden tray decorated with golden prints, somehow gave a Tibetan feel. Like Nagasaki Station, the long, wavy shelter for cars boarding/alighting, featured wooden panels and orange lighting, giving it an artistic and beautiful atmosphere!
Like the major stations in other prefectures in Kyushu, the area around Oita Station also had a nostalgic feel. The surrounding buildings (some looked European design), were very charming, making it seemed like very pleasant to just walking around. I’m not sure if there was some kind of music festival, but the live jazz music added to the charm of the area.

意外と都会やな・・・
一昨日の映像なんですね！👀ロータリー、パルコ跡地まで含めた駅前スペースの広大さは全国でも旭川駅あたりと並んで印象的ですね～大分駅。アーケード街の方は一見そう派手に賑わってる感じはなくとも、メインストリートにまで常にBGMが聴こえて来て歩いてて楽しかった記憶、ちゃんと繁華街繁華街してるというか。(日曜夕方で書き入れ時とはいえ)生憎の空模様なのに大分駅は結構な人通りで!!FWさんの動画を見ても九州の各県庁所在地は他地域と比べても一極集中度が高く、良くできた街が多いと感じますが、そこから人を集め続けている福岡市のパワーを改めて思い知りますね。
