Walk Around the Island With a Shrine Worshipped by Samurai – Omishima, Ehime, Japan #shorts
Omishima Island is in the Northern part of Ehime Prefecture, Japan.
Oyamazumi Shrine on this island was worshipped by samurai, and many swords and armor were donated there as prayers for victory or as thanksgiving for victories.
The structures such as the main shrine, which is designated as an Important Cultural Property, were rebuilt approximately 600 years ago.
Furthermore, the sacred tree that stands in the center of the shrine grounds is about 2,600 years old and is a national natural monument.
With such a long history, Oyamazumi Shrine once attracted many worshippers, and the road leading from the port to the shrine was always bustling.
