Mudflows invaded a city in Japan: houses, roads, bridges were destroyed

Evacuations have been announced for 131,000 people in seven cities and towns in Ishikawa Prefecture on the western island of Honshu, Japanese television channel NHK reports. The ongoing rains in the region have already caused the death of one person, and more than 10 people are missing.
There are reports from the area about river floods, landslides and mudflows. At least 6,000 households in the prefecture are without power. There are interruptions in mobile communications.
The main blow of the elements fell on the village of Noto and the cities of Wajima and Suzu – these are the settlements that were most damaged by the strong earthquake on January 1 of this year.
In Wajima, a huge amount of rainfall was recorded – more than 300 mm (12 inches) fell in 24 hours – this is a record figure since 1975. Stormy streams of water mixed with rocks and mud swept away cars and houses from the streets of the city. Bridges, roads and infrastructure facilities were destroyed, and the city streets were flooded with muddy water. A similar picture occurred in the city of Suzu: more than 200 mm (8 inches) fell there in 24 hours. The rains subsided somewhat in the morning of the next day, but forecasters warn of a new peak in the afternoon.
The authorities declared the fourth level of danger, which means a recommendation for urgent evacuation while it is possible.
The next level of danger, the fifth, is a signal of a critical situation requiring immediate action for your own salvation. In such cases, it may be dangerous to move to evacuation points, so the authorities are calling for shelter above the second floor, if possible, to choose the safest place without going outside.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warns that heavy rains will fall almost throughout the entire territory of the country. Up to 200 mm (8 inches) of rain is expected in the Hokuriku and Shikoku regions, 180 mm (7.2 inches) in the Tokai and Chugoku regions, and up to 150 mm (6 inches) in the Tohoku, Kinki and Kyushu regions.
